Once again something fabulous occurs in Ardmore....and none of it can be attributed to Lower Merion Township itself. This is all about organic growth. And independent small businesses.

The Hooters returned to their Ardmore roots for the opening weekend of Ardmore Music Hall. Ardmore now has a music venue that is amazing. And it is back to where it all began. We knew it originally as the 23 East Cabaret. Now in 2013, it has be re-born as Ardmore Music Hall.

Last night saw something very exciting for Philadelphia area music lovers: the Hooters returned to Ardmore.

People came in from all over the Delaware Valley, New Jersey, Delaware and beyond.

Oh my! The texts and voice mails and e-mails are POURING in. DOUG CLELAND HAS ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT! Apparently he is a done duck as of January 31st. Don't mean to be un-Christian but this is the best news I have heard out of Lower Merion in a long time. One question: what will Liz Rogan do without her boss?

Don't believe me? It is on Main Line Media News already

This is a Chinese Reastaurant in Bryn Mawr. I am disgusted that work like this is allowed to go on in Lower Merion Township!

FYI I am a Builder with over 30 years of experience. It took me all of 5 seconds to realize that this "scaffolding" is a DISASTER waiting to happen. #1. OSHA should shut this job down. #2. Lower Merion Twp should shute this job down. #3. A worker could be KILLED working off this thing. #4. A Pedestrian could be KILLED by this thing. There is NO SIDEWALK safety what so ever.

If you live in Lower Merion I suggest that you send an e-mail to your commissioner and show them this disaster waiting to happen.

With the sale of a smaller coffee shop next to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute in 2011 - now called HotHouse Coffee - the Main Line entrepreneurs have officially left the area. "It was time, we have a lot of stuff going on in the city and our energies have shifted focus," said Lokoff.

So now the two MilkBoy venues in Lower Merion have been sold to others.

Power Outage in Downtown Ardmore, Many Businesses Affected

[Update: 4:16 PM: According to Main Line Media News, PECO trucks are on Cricket Ave.]

Similar to previous power outages in this part of Ardmore, downtown Ardmore is once again dark this afternoon. The following businesses are affected:

  • Wawa
  • CVS
  • Rite-Aid
  • Verizon Wireless
  • Duncan Donuts
  • ...and others.

I was told by a passerby that the outage extends further to the west, impacting more businesses.

This is especially unfortunate, since Saturday is a busy day for the area, and with the temperature into the 90s, Wawa is going to have to throw out most of their food, which will be a loss of well into the thousands of dollars.

Here are some photos I took:

Ardmore Main Street USA 086 Alrighty it is time for a post. Haven't done it up proper for a while so here it goes: I don't live on the Main Line anymore. I thank my lucky stars and the open space gods every day. No municipality will ever be perfection, but I have to tell you that leaving the Main Line has been hands down the best decision. Ever. I miss my friends, but I do not miss the constant rotation of crap and we-can't-call-it-government-corruption-even-if it-is. So let's start with my former do nothing commissioner Steve Lindner. He marches to the beat of his own personal agenda. I got a private message about him just now. I don't post often and it was from June 30th and I only noticed it today.
