"We'll throw in this cat for free!"

I got this note from the township today:

The Lower Merion Affordable Housing Corporation, in cooperation with Lower Merion Township, is accepting applications for the affordable first-time homebuyers program.

The Affordable Home Ownership Program's next home will be an end-unit townhome, located at 1048 Floyd Terrace in Bryn Mawr, Lower Merion Township. It has 3 bedrooms, 1 ½ baths, a front porch and off-street parking. Special preference will be given to people who currently live or work in Lower Merion, former residents and active Lower Merion volunteer firefighters. The asking price is $190,000.

Homebuyers must meet eligibility requirements including income restrictions, good credit and savings for the down-payment. Household income restrictions are based on U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) income limits adjusted for household size.

Households with two members could have a maximum income of $50,700. Households with three members could have a maximum income of $57,050. Households with four members could have a maximum income of $63,350. (All thresholds have been lowered since the beginning of 2013.) Homebuyers must comply with program requirements and agree to resale restrictions.

Please contact Genesis Housing Corporation at 610-275-4357 to receive an application. Applications can also be downloaded at the Township website.

This project has been funded through HUD's Community Development Block Grant Program. For questions, contact Genesis at the number above Lower Merion Township's Community Development Division at (610) 645-6271.

Bonus points for giving preference to volunteer fire fighters. I have no issues with this whatsoever.

Patch tells us:  Cold Stone Creamery left Suburban Square December 24.  It will allegedly be replaced by a frozen yogurt place.

Interesting comment on the Patch article:

I wish the new place luck - with the super high rent and never any parking its an uphill battle to survive at Suburban

Say a prayer for Ardmore this Christmas, because based on what I am reading on this blog by other bloggers as well as what actually makes it to the papers and other media outlets, Ardmore is quite simply doomed. A veritable municipal Titanic

Too much development headed this way far too fast, and I hope Liz Rogan is happy with her legacy (which is merely a continuation of Reed and Taylor agendas of yore)

Between whatever is going to happen with the Ardmore YMCA site, whatever is going to happen on the Ruby's Lot in Surburban Square, the cram plan for Sibley Avenue, the Dranoff Drama on the other side of the tracks, Cricket Avenue, etc, Ardmore is going to be so crammed with apartments no one is going to be able to move, breathe, or drive their car anyplace quickly.

If this is true, it will mean another 30+ new apartments across from Surburban Square, at the corner of St. George's Road and Montgomery Avenue.  We are also projected to get 47 new apartments at 112 Sibley Avenue.  This should have a noticeable impact on the area.
