Typical Radnor Politics?

Did anyone cacth the recent Radnor Public Meeting where they appointed an interim commissioner now that Dave Cannan left (see HERE) ....and can it be said Radnor once again pandered to politics as usual? They were asked by residents, another candidate for office, and Dave Cannan himself in a letter to the editors a couple/few weeks back and in person to appoint a neutral interim Ward 7 Radnor Commissioner, but did they do it? Noooooooo. What did they do?

Radnor Commissioner Involved in Grade Fixing?

Oh, how outstanding - a commissioner who lives by the golden rule of "do as I say, not as I do"?

AC/DC said it best when they said:

If you're havin' trouble with your high school head
He's givin' you the blues
You wanna graduate but not in 'is bed
Here's what you gotta do -
Pick up the phone
I'm always home
Call me any time
Just dial
36 24 36 hey.....

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Dirty Deeds and they're Done Dirt Cheap

So, the Inquirer broke the news that Radnor Township Commissioner Lisa Paolino is involved in the Radnor Grade Fixing Scandal? A sitting commissioner?!

And to fix a grade, even gym class, that isn't parenting, is it?

See, case and point about what is wrong with some parents today - at the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, when parents disagreed with a teacher they apparently had a teacher fired and for what reason? Because the teacher didn't tell the parents what the parents thought they were paying to hear?

So anyway, here's the Inquirer article... Stay tuned.

Parents Say "No" To Teen Partying...Maybe It Is Time For This Tough Love On The Main Line?

"Party on Dudes" ...well in NJ, they are saying "no more" and stepping up to change the culture...no one argues that when you are young, you should have some fun, but it seems that the balance is off and there are more and more teens in trouble due to drinking, drugging, and partying. We see it here in Radnor, we read about it in other communities.

It is high time that parents step back up to the plate and take responsibility for parenting. As a parent, no one wants to be the heavy as it isn't much fun. But face it, we're the adults here (or are supposed to be)- and teens and young adults? If you want to be treated like grown ups you have to be responsible and exhibit responsible behavior. If you don't the results can prove dangerous, if not fatal. And parents? Sometimes you can't be the firend, you have to be the parent.

Take a look at myspace and other sites teens frequent - put in YOUR kids' high school or city state town. It gives you a whole other perspective on Junior and Buffy.....it's not all bad, but check it out....check out this article too....in the end is it better to have a teen with drug and alcohol dependencies or even dead, or is it better to have a teen that is alive and kicking and complaining you're too tough?

College Student Killed on Septa Tracks

Now if you live anywhere near the Delco Septa Tracks (which would mean the P&W that runs around Bryn Mawr Hospital, up to Villanova, etc.) you would have heard the sirens this weekend.

Someone was killed on those tracks, which like the R-5 Septa tracks do NOT have much of what one would call fencing...yes, for every improvement our beloved regional transit system does, it never includes safety items like fencing. The person killed wasn't a jumper that we heard, but rather a kid in the wrong place at the wrong time.

As The Ithan Turns

Here in Radnor, there is a soap opera in full bloom: As The Ithan Turns. Good thing the Suburban wrote an article updating the public, because not only has the SIC site not been updated in a dog's age (rabbits never age, they just hop around town), everything in Radnor is always a big friggin' secret....we are so Tammany Hall here in Delco...from one Boss Tweed to the next...but what is being accomplished along Conestoga Road?

Waiting for the wind to blow in Ithan
By Sam Strike 05/23/2007

You could say all has been quiet recently in the village of Ithan. Then again, you could say it has not.

Although there are no new plans on the Radnor Township land-development docket for the two sites to be developed along Conestoga Road, groups of interested parties have been meeting and people have been talking.

Wayne resident Beverlee Barnes, who works in the Delaware County Department of Planning, is working on a proposal for a historic overlay district there.

Also, the Save Ithan Coalition continues to meet.

Radnor's Got Problems: Kids- Don't Bring Weapons to School....

It is very confusing when one kid gets popped publicly for bringing a weapon to school and ANOTHER doesn't. On sunny days, is it still cloudy in Radnor? Why are certain things released to the public and other things aren't? A weapon in school is a weapon in school.....right? Or wrong?

Nanny, nanny, fofanny; Nanny, nanny, ohwhammy!

Beating Nannies is a blogger's idea of paradise....the possibilities are endless.

Take PhillyBurbs:

Rich old bat wallops another nanny
Says here that Villanova’s favorite gangsta, Susan Tabas Tepper, went medieval on another nanny’s ass this weekend. Perhaps she did this in celebration of the upcoming end of her 1-year probation for doing the same thing last year. This time she beat up a little girl, too. Give her mad props, yo. She gots street cred now.

Mike Tyson isn’t doing anything lately - maybe judgie-wudgie should assign him Tepper’s nanny. What a great sitcom that would be. We’ll get Phyllis Diller to play the Tepper; “Get out of my way, you neanderthal - you’re blocking the bar....” “Gee, lady, I’m twyin’ ta get the kid asleep....

From The Desk Of Citizen Mom: Smack My B* Up, Tony ‘Burbs Edition

Dear Susan Tabas Tepper,

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Bullying another nanny? I hope you left the produce out of it this time. Honey, didn’t you see Crash? You have to be nice to your domestics, dearie, because when your ‘tude leaves you in a heap at the bottom of the stairs and you end up in bed with a broken leg, who do you think’s going to help you go pee-pee?

Ithan Update

Go Save Ithan Go! (this is pretty much in the newspaper too)

Since we last had our group meeting, the Save Ithan Steering Committee
has been at work. Radnor Monthly Meeting has also been at work and
retained Jim Greenfield as the Meeting's attorney. The two groups hope
to work together while Save Ithan works on the details of its
organization and ability to raise funds for its legal representation
and necessary planning costs, if needed.

As has been reported, the O'Neill property Group still has its
proposal for 20 condos on hold, but able to be brought before the
Zoning Board in the future.

The situation in Radnor is moving rapidly in some respects. The
developers have not been, it seems, able to agree on an overlay for
Ithan as hoped for by some township officials. In this vacuum, the
O'Neill Group is throwing the responsibility of an overlay back to the
Planning Commission.

In many respects, this may open the process for the community to
drive the Ithan Vision.

As such, Mr. Al Murphy, head of the Planning Commission has been asked
to meet with the Save Ithan Steering Committee with the sole purpose
of working on the details of a public forum. This Steering Committee
meeting is not to decide on plans for Ithan, not to give a stamp of
approval for past township actions, or make decisions for the
community. It is an attempt to bridge a communications gap.

The decision to meet with Mr. Murphy was a difficult one, and not
supported by everyone. But the feeling that prevailed we must try and
open communications.

The Steering Committee Meeting will happen this Thursday and a report
will be E-mailed on the results shortly there after.

Since so much has happened without community involvement the Save
Ithan SC is pushing Mr. Murphy to participate in a future open forum,
perhaps with a community planner and another knowledgeable
professional to discuss issues. The meeting, as now planned, would be
moderated and include full public participation.

Suggestions on appropriate participants would be appreciated by the
Steering Committee.

Thank you for your continuing support of Save Ithan and its volunteers.
