Lisa Paolino in trouble for Deceiving Voters!
Submitted by dmuth on Fri, 2008-04-18 23:00.|
This just hit the news over on Haverfordblog. Not only was Lisa Paolino found guilty in court for producing phony ballots, but she has refused to turn over documentation related to ballots which may have been previously distributed. This is big big news, for two reasons: |
Is Lisa Paolino buying votes?

Lance Rogers is very unhappy with Lisa Paolino. It seems that she has been putting campaign advertisements together with coupons for a car wash. Apparently this is illegal under Pennsylvania Law as outlined in the below press release from Lance Rogers' office. |
Lisa Paolino's Legal Letter
Submitted by dmuth on Mon, 2008-04-14 20:56.|
Since folks have been asking me both online and off about the legal letter that Lisa Paolino sent me, I have reproduced it below. But first, I'm going to give some background. Awhile back, a blog post was made by one of our members on this site, titled "Radnor Commissioner Involved in Grade Fixing?", which discussed a grade changing scandal that involved Lisa Paolino, who was a sitting Commissioner in Radnor at the time. The blog post itself really didn't make any accusations, but did cite a source in the way of a newspaper article from the Philadelphia Inquirer. (Original no longer available, reprint here) What the blog post did do, however, was ask a lot of questions. Apparently Lisa Paolino doesn't like it when people ask questions about her. Instead, I received the following letter from her attorney sometime later. (additional comments follow the letter):
My brain pretty much went into shock after reading that. What we have here is an ELECTED OFFICIAL who is trying to shut up her critics by sending legal letters to the webmaster of the site it was on. Unbelievable! Can you possiblly get any more anti-democratic than that? I don't know what things are like where Lisa comes from, but here in the United States, we have this tiny piece of text known as the First Amendment. It explicitly gives us the right to criticize others and call them on their actions. This even extends to our elected officials. In fact, I think that having the ability to complain about one's leaders is the hallmark of a free and open society. What is even more ironic is that Lisa has this same Freedom of Speech that the rest of us do. If she wanted to dispute the blog posting, she could have easily written her own blog post that tells her own version of events. Heck, if she had asked nicely, I would have even linked to the post from this site in the interest of fairness. Having both sides of the story would allow readers to view both and make their own informed decision. I support the free exchange of information and ideas and think that would have been great if she would have just posted her side of the story. Instead, Lisa chose to resort to this disgusting bullying tactic and had the audacity to think that she could actually get me to remove an entire member's blog removed because she disapproved of a single posting. Well, guess what? I will not be bullied. Finally, this letter raises some other interesting questions: has Lisa Paolino attempted to bully any other individuals or civic groups that have spoken poorly of her? Has she forced other blogs off the air through such tactics? These are things that we at the Save Ardmore Coalition would like to know. If you have any information about this, please contact us. Finally, I would like to end this post with a few relevant quotes about censorship and the Freedom of Speech: The test of democracy is freedom of criticism. ~David Ben-Gurion Thank you for reading, and good night. -- Douglas Muth, Webmaster, Save Ardmore Coalition |
Residental Fire at 100 W Montgomery Ave
Submitted by dmuth on Sun, 2008-02-10 19:22.|
Tonight sure was exciting. On my way back from dinner at around 6 PM, I stumbled across the scene of what appeared to be a residential fire on Montgomery Avenue. From speaking to the owner of the affected home, it seems to have stemmed from an issue with his fireplace. Montgomery Avenue was completely closed off between Woodside Ave. and Bleddyn Road: And if you think that firefighters rescuing kitty cats is some sort of stereotype, I wouldn't be so sure: I'd also like to extend my thanks to the residents of 34 W Montgomery Ave, who provided temporary shelter the residents of 100 W, who were all evacuated due to the fire. |
Anderson Ave Bridge: 1, Budget Truck: 0

The bridge on Anderson Ave in Ardmore strikes again! I wish I would say that this is the first time I saw a truck get stuck in this particular bridge, but... it's not. See that sign on the bridge? The one that says, "CLEARANCE 10'6""? They mean it. Especially when you're driving a 10'8" Budget truck! Let this be a learning experience: More pics are available over here. |
Lower Merion must protect its neighborhoods
Submitted by dmuth on Thu, 2007-06-14 08:43.|
By Sharon Eckstein, President, Save Ardmore Coalition The Save Ardmore Coalition's mission statement asserts that our grassroots organization is dedicated to the revitalization of Ardmore's business district based on community input, consensus building, sound and comprehensive planning and the preservation of our architectural heritage. Accordingly, we support the swift enactment of a comprehensive plan for Lower Merion Township, a full town plan for Ardmore, and an updated Municipal Planning Code for the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Save Ardmore Coalition ( SAC) appreciates the outreach from SW Land Associates, developers of 130 Cricket Ave. and values the ongoing dialogue that we have been having with them. Nevertheless, SAC is opposed to the proposed development of 130 Cricket Ave. as it is currently being discussed. SAC supports the creation of and maintaining of truly affordable housing in Ardmore. We realize that without housing diversity a community loses its vitality. A community is most vibrant when it has housing opportunities for people at different stages of life and with different socioeconomic backgrounds, when those of different means can call one neighborhood their own. Developer incentives to create affordable housing generally allow developers to build more units than the zoning ordinances allow. As a "reward" for promoting the societal good of affordable housing, they are permitted to increase the project's density. The proposed development of 130 Cricket Ave. involves the building of one condominium building with approximately 37 units rather than the straight, recently re-examined R6A zoning maximum of approximately 12-15 units because the developers are including approximately 18 units of "subsidized units" -- primarily one-bedroom units selling for $320,000, as we have been told. In Ardmore, for that amount of money, we assert that those who would truly need this housing would be looking for a single family home or even a townhouse, not a one bedroom condominium apartment. |

Trial Starts for Suspect in Ardmore Murder
Submitted by dmuth on Mon, 2007-03-19 11:23.|
We're glad to see that this awful crime has finally made it to trial. At this point, it's up to the legal system to determine if he is guilty or not. The prosecutors are not making this into a death penalty case, but a guilty verdict would send the defendant off to jail for life.
