Radnor Student Gets More Community Service Time Than Main Line Mama

Over the past few months, we covered the Radnor High School teen who got in trouble for his choice of graffiti. Today in the Inquirer we see he what he got. It is interesting to note that the carrot wielding Main Line Mama got a better deal - Susan Tabas Tepper only has to do 48 hours of community service, pay approximately $3825 in whatever, one year probation, and anger management (code phrase for "don't beat the help anymore"). This kid who never laid a hand on anyone got 64 hours of community service, 2 years probation, $3800 in whatever, has to have counseling, doesn't seem to be able to go back to Radnor High School, and spent 12 days in jail. What does everyone think of that? Doesn't it seem the rich are indeed treated differently?

Here's the update on the Radnor teen, plus acouple Main Line Mama-centric articles we forgot to post before:

Radnor student jailed for threat is put on probation

The Radnor High School senior jailed for 12 days and charged with terroristic threats for writing the word gun on a restroom wall has been accepted into a first-time offenders program.

Cameron Plaice, 19, was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program on Monday, according to his attorney, Steven Kellis. Defendants accepted into the program must comply with court-ordered conditions. In return, charges are suspended.

Kellis said Plaice paid about $3,800 in restitution, and was placed on probation for two years. He must complete 64 hours of community service and will undergo counseling as part of his plea agreement.

I am lugging a bag of carrots and a cordless telephone up Fifth Street in Philadelphia's Fairhill neighborhood, looking for a Spanish speaker to smack me over the head with them.

True artists suffer for their craft, and how else to test whether the Villanova heiress who beat up her Venezuelan housekeeper/nanny got a better deal than the hired help would have if the roles had been reversed?

I'm no socialite, but I am white. If you don't think race and class played a role in this case, I've got a great job for you cleaning toilets at the Main Line estate of Susan Tabas Tepper.

Tepper is a former president of the Philadelphia Polo Club. She's the daughter of the late Daniel Tabas, the Royal Bank chairman and resort and restaurant owner who once fired Zsa Zsa Gabor from the City Line Dinner Theatre because she was rude to disabled people in the audience.

That's one way of saying Tepper has Daddy's money, if not his manners.

....Tepper was charged with robbery, theft and assault. She copped a plea to reduced charges, but did not admit guilt. This week, she was sentenced to a year's probation, anger-management classes and community service, and was fined $2,800.

"That's it?" Mara Velez asks after I give her the lowdown inside the Virgen Beauty Salon on Fifth near Cambria.

"If the nanny did that, she'd be in jail doing time for assault."

....."They would have given that nanny time," says Ada Cruz.

"They would have deported her," Iris Cartagena suspects.

Main Line Life: Anger management counseling for Main Liner
By: Margaret Gibbons

A Main Line woman, accused of assaulting her nanny/housekeeper with a bag of carrots and a telephone handset, will have to undergo anger management counseling.

Susan Tabas Tepper, 43, of the 700 block of Eagle Farm Road, Villanova, Monday accepted the counseling as part of a negotiated plea agreement to resolve the criminal case against her.

Appearing before Montgomery County Judge Bernard A. Moore, Tepper entered an Alford plea to a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief and a summary offense of harassment.

Under an Alford plea, Tepper admitted that the prosecution could prove the case against her but that she disputed the factual allegations on which the charges are based.
It is treated by the court as a guilty plea.

Tepper received a one-year probationary sentence and will have to pay fines totaling $2,800 plus court costs.

In addition, she must pay $1,025 in restitution to her victim, Xiomara Salinas, to cover the cost of a broken pair of glasses, a purse strap and medical costs.

Tepper also must perform 48 hours of community service.

I see that Radnor police are in fierce competition with the Boston police force.
