RIP Officer Sean Quinn. I do not as you know post about police very often. But in this case I make an exception because this was a heck of a nice guy and familiar face in the community. Sherry Tillman, Executive Director of First Friday Main Line asked me to dig out a photo from my First Friday Main Line archives because Officer Quinn was part of quite a few First Friday Main Lines - he would show up with "McGruff" sometimes for the Happy Howl O' Ween event in October. UPDATE: Lower Merion police officer Quinn found deceased Published: Monday, February 11, 2013 Cops: Cop with mental health issues commits suicide in FDR Park POSTED: Monday, February 11, 2013, 11:59 AM A final note: There will be a million opinions on this tragedy given how it also happened on a day where a tragedy with guns involved played out in a court house in Wilmington, DE . All I ask from bloggers up here is to have your opinion respectfully. This is someone who was part of our community and he has a family and friends who are just beginning the cycle of grieving. And no matter what you think of the Lower Merion Police Department, like many others they aren't just a brotherhood and sisterhood in blue, they are like family to each other and they will be grieving as well. It is a terribly sad day at Lower Merion Township. We should respect that. Thanks. |

This is my father... the man who would starve to feed us kids first... The best father a girl could ask for. Please don't remember him by this but by the wonderful things he did.
Thank you
Dear heathermarieq21,
We are so truly and deeply sorry for your loss. And no one is judging here - you know, or you should know how well liked he was in the community.
One reason I posted this photo is so people remember all the wonderful things he did.
We are so sorry for your loss.
Heather, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Please know that you and your brothers are in my thoughts and prayers. Your dad was a friend that I knew from DARE (he and my ex-husband were both instructors) and I was proud to call him a good friend to me. He worshipped you and your brothers and would have done anything for you guys. I am so sorry for your loss.
No judging here. I am truly sorry for your loss. Please let us know if there's anything we can do.
Thank you everybody you dont know what this means to me.
Sean Quinn was a good man, I had many conversatiions with him as we both graduated high school the same year, he from haverford and myself from Bonner.
He truly loved his family and worked very hard to support them, he will be missed, we should pray for his family and remember him as a great cop that put it on the line every day. Joe Rufo
Officer Quinn helped me tremendously when I was dealing with a terrible break-up that required a Protection From Abuse order. He checked in with me regularly to make sure I was safe. After things calmed down, I was always delighted when I got the chance to catch up with him. My kids knew him as their DARE officer, and we still have his "Baseball" card in our house. I was so saddened to hear what happened to this good, good man. Lower Merion and the world are poorer places without Sean Quinn.

That's tragic. It's a shame that he wasn't able to overcome whatever issues he was dealing with.
Also some of the commenters on the Action News article are kind of jerks. :-/
