Here is an email Township Manager Cleland sent to the Lower Merion commissioners on February 11:

Commissioners:

Staff has been in discussions with the Ardmore Library Board, the Township Engineer, and Vitetta Architects to explore another potential elevator configuration option for the Ardmore Library by locating the needed new elevator outside the existing building footprint on the southeast, left front corner as you approach the front door.

While other outside locations were previously considered and rejected, this new location concept, if feasible, could reach all 3 floors of the library building (main, basement and mezzanine) without taking up any of the precious existing interior space.

In order to further and appropriately investigate this new option, it is my intention to authorize Vitetta to expand the scope of their Ardmore Library design analysis by up to an additional $8,400 to fully explore this option.

Staff will keep you apprised.
