We're glad to see that this awful crime has finally made it to trial.

At this point, it's up to the legal system to determine if he is guilty or not. The prosecutors are not making this into a death penalty case, but a guilty verdict would send the defendant off to jail for life.

Trial Begins For Man Charged With Montco Beating Murder

by KYW's Brad Segall

Opening arguments are beginning in the trial of a Philadelphia man charged with killing a woman last year inside a catering business in Ardmore, Montgomery County.

A jury of four men and eight women will decide the fate of 28-year-old Jacuqin Byrd (photo) of the Olney section of Philadelphia.

He’s charged with first and third degree murder for the beating and stabbing death of 24-year-old Sarah Boone. She was found dead last January inside Cricket Catering where she worked.

Byrd maintains his innocence, claiming he wasn’t even in Ardmore the day of the murder.
