How About Transit Oriented Development For Gladwyne And Penn Valley?
|
Can't you just see it? Transit Oriented Development ("TOD") for Gladwyne and Penn Valley? Can't you see it, a little MUST for 19035 and 19072? Wow! The possibilities are endless! You see, there are bus stops in Gladwyne and Penn Valley for SEPTA. This means we can put transit oriented development right there in the highest end of high end real estate! Why not? From Barkers Mill area to Righters Mill Road, the plans are already ongoing for condominiums. Perfect! Why not add a little workforce housing next to St. John Vianney Church in Gladwyne across from the SuperFresh? Isn't that where bus route 121 goes? That is where the bus stop is. Think how great it would be? Staff could walk to McMansions in Gladwyne and cut down their communter time. That would be great! Workforce housing right across the street practically from Gladwyne Concierge - we don't need parking, the housing would be affordable and fall through the cracks in Lower Merion Township codes, just like 130 Cricket Avenue and whatever is brewing on 125, 127, 129 Ardmore Ave and 15 West Spring Ave., contiguous properties that have just passed from private ownership to developer paws. And couldn't you just see Squire Mews, a mixed use highrise condominium on Barr Lane in Gladwyne? Barr Lane and Conshohocken State Road is another SEPTA Bus Stop according to their map - opportunity we MUST not let get by our dear fellow TOD! Can't you "envision" it? We could have 7 or 8 stories with a restaurant on the ground floor, a 6000 sqaure foot penthouse with a private pool on the roof! And of course it would be a green building! After all, there is plenty of green grass naturally and chemically enhanced in Gladwyne! Wow! With this idea, who would want to have the penthouse overlooking Bella Italia and the WaWa billboard in Ardmore? Why have Ardmore, or even an autobody shop in Haverford when your "Juliette" balcony can overlook the Delaware Market House and OMG? "Hello Maurice? Yes it's me, Esmerelda, can you book me for a mani-pedi and try not to run Buffy over in your huge beastly SUV? Thank you darling, that is just delicious!" "Hello, Delware Market House? It's me, Esmerelda. Can you add filet and trimmings for 24 and deliver it no later than 5:30 so Marguerite has time to properly prepare and serve it? And do not charge me that delivery fee as I am just across the street!" "Hello, Gladwyne Concierge? It's Esmerelda here. I hate what Jean Pierre did with the salon and I simply must have it changed before 5 p.m. Can you accomodate me? That's lovely, see you then" Ohhh...and wait - there's more. Why not some additional workforce housing over there on Hagysford Road? Yes, there is another SEPTA bus stop or two near Welsh Valley and Oak Hill. Wouldn't that be perfect too? After all, where SEPTA goes, Transit Oriented Development and Mixed Use projects must follow...it has been decreed as such by the experts. Fair is fair, spread the love. Are you sweating yet? Wondering if this post is fact or fiction? Lucky for you with your manicured lawns, security gates, obese SUVs, and hot and cold running nannies and staff, it is mere farce. But hopefully the point was proven and you who don't know what it is like now know how the other half lives in small neighborhoods in already dense areas. So, how does it feel? Don't like it? Then stop the madness. Why not demand a moritorium on development and a little comprehensive plan between friends? What's another Annenberg Estate, Merriam Estate, or Glenmede? Oh Glenmede, now THAT is truth - it's for sale - go read your Main Line Life - it's smack dab on the front page. Oh yes, Cinderellas in 19010, it might just be your turn at the developer wheel of fortune. And read the editorial too...the editor is poking the bear and good for him for having the balls to do it... No animals were tested on the making of this post. It's just an opinion, can't you take a joke? Bookmark/Search this post with: |
