**Warning, warning! Danger Will Robinson! This is a SAC RANT...front page worthy even if it doesn't end up there...if our rants annoy you, DON'T read the post***

A few SAC members had a conversation this morning about this evening's Ardmore RFP meeting/public hearing:

Ardmore Transit Center Project Wednesday May 30 6:00 P.M.

So the meeting is in the boardroom, and it is crucially important for the public to interact with government so we don't end up with a crap project that looks like chain store Disneyland in Historic Ardmore. It is crucial for the business owners in Ardmore to be able to get to the darn meeting so they can see what the future holds for them and if they will be included or excluded, or disenfranchised for the lure of the shiny new penny?

It is disturbing to note they are designing Transit Oriented Development in our towns that are historically transit oriented to be transit oriented. But that is a topic for another day.

Back to the public meetings.

Tonight's starts at 6 p.m.. If you work, have a family, own your own business, 6 p.m. is a VERY DIFFICULT and extraordinarily INCONVENIENT time!

Why is it the Planning Commission can start at 7 p.m., the Zoning Hearing Board can start at 7:15 p.m., and the Board of Commissioners can start at 8 p.m.? Why are the citizens all second class citizens and this meeting starts at 6 p.m.? Are we not valued? Is our time not valuable? Even if everyone rolls up the sidewalks at 5 p.m. sharp, 6 p.m. is still difficult.

THAT dear readers is HOW you know HOW important this meeting is. It starts at the inconvenient time of 6 p.m......starts earlier less chance for headaches from the public?

Just askin'

Remember, here at SAC, we value the public's time...which is why for example, our community forums don't start until at least 7 p.m. We recognize that you all have lives, businesses, families, and a desire to not have to shove dinner in your mouth as you are climbing back into your car to try to make a 6 p.m. meeting when you left work at 5 p.m., or are closing your small business early on an evening when many stay open until at least 6 p.m.

We're sure a whole lotta somebodies will get their knickers in a twist over this rant...but hey, don't shoot the messenger because everyone is talking about it not just SAC...

Rant over. Go about your day.
