The June 1 to 7, 2007 (Volume 26, Number 15) print edition of The Philadelphia Business Journal reports on page 4 in an article by Natalie Kostelni something we bet no one much knows on the Main Line:

The Foundation for Islamic Education in Villanova is for sale!

And we quote:

“The Foundation for Islamic Education has put its 23-acre campus up for sale, making available another developable tract on the land-constrained Main Line.

At least five other sizable Main Line properties are for sale: Glenmede....Bryn Mawr...a 16 acre property ....Ardrossan, a 360-acre site...Radnor;...3-acre Annenberg Estate...Wynnewood...; Episcopal Academy wants to unload its 34-acre campus...Devon...;American College…35-acre campus...Bryn Mawr....

The property at 1860 w. Montgomery Ave. doesn’t meet the needs of the Islamic foundation, said Sid Smith, a broker with GVA Smith Mack who is marketing the property. The group desires a roughly 10-acre site within a 10-mile radius of where it is now located and will build anew or an 80,000-square-foot building in a commercial area.....the land was the Morris Clothier Estate. There’s a 17,000-square-foot main house that was designed by famed architect Horace Trumbauer….One estimate pegs the price at $25 million.”

SAC Note: The property isn’t on GVA Smith Mack’s website that we could find….
