Color me confused so close to election day in Radnor Township. Bill Spingler is running for what now? Treasurer of Radnor Township? Now I have been gone off the Main Line a while now, but is Radnor still in Delaware County? So ummm isn't Tredyffrin in Chester County? Quizzle me this: where does Bill Spingler REALLY live these days?

So...inquiring minds want to know since isn't Iven Avenue AKA Radnor Crossing Apartments? And rentals? So that mean Spingler sold his house in St. David's and needed an apartment in his ward, right? And people say he has a new lady in his life and we see two names on the Paoli place, so does that mean Bill Spingler, who is still a Radnor Commissioner is "commuting" home on weekends to Paoli? Which is in Tredyffrin Township and Chester County?

So how is that going to work with him running for treasurer exactly? If treasurer was not an elected position it wouldn't matter, would it?

Not being mean, but when his buddy Jim Pierce moved to Tredyffrin upon his marriage he resigned from Radnor Township as commissioner first didn't he?

And then there is that whole thing in the paper about Bill Spingler and lots of copies of something so close to election?

Main Line Suburban Life > Radnor candidate's use of township copier questioned Published: Friday, October 18, 2013
By Linda Stein

The current treasurer, Republican John Osborne who is running for re-election to that post, recently came upon one of the township employees making multiple copies of a document at the behest of Commissioner Bill Spingler. Spingler, a Democrat, is vying to become the treasurer. Osborne reported the activity to township Manager Robert Zienkowski as a possible ethics violation.

Spingler told a reporter that he did have a township secretary run off some copies for him to hand out while campaigning, but he said the document was not campaign literature.....Spingler was handing out a copy of an article that appeared in the township newsletter concerning the development of the Ardrossan Farm. He said he added a note that said the township hopes to buy 65-acres of the 311-acre estate for open space.

“I just wanted to inform the people now,” said Spingler. “It was an informational piece....“The matter about Commissioner Spingler is ‘much ado about nothing’ in my opinion,” said Commissioner John Nagle. “It is more about perception than reality. I think that Mr. Osborne is also ‘guilty’ of violations in that I have personally heard him actively campaigning from his office in the Township Building. ”

So why is it Spingler couldn't make copies at the library? At FedEx Office? At a Staples?

Spingler using township resources for something not sanctioned by either ALL the commissioners or the township manager is a violation of what? The Home Rule Charter? Would that be:

Article II, Section 2.09 H Administrative policy. It is the intent of this Charter that the Board act as a body in relation to all township matters. No Commissioner, acting individually, shall seek publicly or privately to direct the acts of township officials and employees.

So are Radnor residents going to buy the "innocent mistake" excuse from Spingler? Or is this more like Wile E. Coyote getting caught? Can it be wondered about that IF Spingler hadn't gotten caught by getting some poor shlub in the township building to make his copies without permission that he would not have reimbursed the township?

Are Radnor residents sick yet of all of Spingler and all his tricks? Not that I wish him on Tredyffrin because they have enough issues. But apparently it is the community of choice of former Radnor commissioners of a certain era, right?

And one last comment: I see John Nagle sticking up for Spingler and why? Dude he would throw you under a bus in a heartbeat so why waste your breath?

Here is hoping Radnor residents are smarter this time....should be an interesting Radnor Board of Commissioners Meeting on Monday October 28th won't it? Are we expecting it will be quite the soap opera?

here is Spingy's "campaign literature". I wonder is it kosher to use Radnor Township letterhead to campaign with?
