Heard Down The Line: Fact or Fiction? Main Line Rumors.....
|
More Trouble Ahead For Righters Mill Road in Gladwyne? Ok, so this evening there is this meeting on the Comprehensive Plan and institutions tonight at Lower Merion Township, right? So, a lot of these institutions are no profits, so what does the community actually get out of the deal other then headaches if it is a problem institution? Non profits don't contribute to tax rolls the same as everybody else do they? Aren't real estate taxes a big deal? What do non profits pay around here? Anyway, the latest rumor to weave through 19035 is surrounding the Odd Fellows Hall and Methodist Church on Righters Mill Road and who knows more? Odd Fellows Cemetary is located at 334 Righters Mill Road. The hall can be seen in a photo here. Would it be appropriate for a non profit, in this case a church, to turn a landmark into something else, like Wobbly Heights, only smaller? Well that is the rumor flying faster then Maurice's trimming scissors at OMG. Please note, that if everyone does their proposed development history of the Main Line, Valley Forge Military Academy apparently considered renting one of their halls out a few years back to a nursing home, and the neighbors over their fought them and won.... Other rumors also include hell hath no fury like a developer scorned? Or in this case a developer without a certificate of appropriateness? Now that would be Gladwyne...in Radnor along Conestoga Road in Historic Ithan, it would be hell hath no fury like a petulant developer and is all that fencing necessary to keep out a few Quakers on Sundays? Is this "Katie bar the door, the Society of Friends is in Town?" In Haverford there is "hell hath no fury like the development that didn't happen". So why is it that the developer who bulldozed the Clothier house on Buck Lane has suddenly put up a split rail fence? And what of that other infamous development project? Been by 16 and 28 North Buck Lately? Nothing is doing except can it be said the neighborhood is starting to look distinctly blighted? Will that development every get started, or will it start and end up like a big dirt pile for soemone else to deal with? Is it too late for million dollar condos next to Classic Autobody and are presells needed in order to build? And what of Stuard Funeral Home on Cricket Avenue? is that now owned or about to be owned by the developers with the option on 130 Cricket? Will anything happen there? And the Tower of Babble Saga on Schaufele Plaza? Has anyone read the RFP submitted by THAT developer? Will that end up being an Aesop's fable? Doesn't it seem that THAT developer is NEVER happy? And in the category of the more things stay the same, we have the "Where's Waldo, Find The Former Commissioner" rumor that says former commissioner Ken Davis, who helped a certain institution get all their greedy hearts desired is now lobbying for them? Is it true, are they reserving a suite for Ken Davis at Waverly Heights so he doesn't have to travel far? Wow...so let's see, one developer who sumbitted an RFP knows Manko, right? And 130 Cricket and O'Neill sometimes get represented by Ettelson, right? Who else? What else? So is it true that Ken Davis will be chief lobbyist and tale spinner for Waverly Heights and will be lobbying the Board of Commissioners where he once sat? And who was it again who wanted Lower Merion Township to hire them to be their compensated official lobbyist? Well hey now, feel free to share you rumors as well...Remember the truth is your absolute best defense.... Bookmark/Search this post with: |
