Yep, graffiti. Huge ugly swaths of it in Ardmore in Lower Merion Township. Of course, can it be considered that this exhibits the malcontent felt by increasingly disenfranchised segments of the population since Lower Merion seems to be experiencing a graffiti outbreak in more than Ardmore? We aren't sociologists, so we aren't equipped to answer. But we will pose one further question: if the over-urbanization of Ardmore under MUST is the future, and graffiti is considered and urban disease, can we expect more graffiti? We warned you about this grafittiin a previous post, but no one seemed inclined to take a second look. Will photographs change that? The address on the www.montcopa.org site for the building is
The graffiti is directly across the street from the Bryn Mawr Trust Company's Ardmore branch. Isn't it a shame that an important local business presence is across from that? Isn't it a shame that everyone is talking about the beautification of Ardmore, and yet, certain properties have quite a derelict and blighted appearence? And that they have in some cases looked this way since even before our formerly targeted merchants' buildings were declared blighted? Why is it our favorite formerly targeted block is still declared blighted yet these buildings are just allowed to look like this? |
