What's Your Handicap? Ignorance?

Our neighborhood deserves better....
Our small neighborhood in Haverford between Lancaster and Montgomery is under siege. We are in the midst of crazy construction, none of which benefits us as residents, only other people. One of our toughest problems is surviving the expansion of a large private school, an institution. They are across Lancaster Avenue. Their construction vehicles, however, tend to creep over - dumnpsters, trucks, personal vehicles and trucks of construction workers - you name it, we've got it or have experienced it all at this point. No street is more plagued then Barrett Avenue at present. That was the street that the school promised would have NO problems. Well, the construction workers park it up daily - some days there are close to 20 vehicles (if not more) related to this costruction project. The school has not addressed it sufficiently. The school should have it's own construction workers on it's side of Lancaster on their own property. But then again, they made promises about student parkers that aren't being kept as they should because the students are defying what they have been told about parking in the neighborhoods. They are also parking on Barrett Ave, as well as other streets including small streets in Haverford Township that border the temporary upper school campus at Our Mother of Good Counsel. Our neighborhood has tried and tried and tried to coexist peacefully, but it is really hard when cars get get up and down streets, you can't park where you live, and oh our favorite du jour? When you see a truck that parked in a clearly marked handicap only space. It takes a special kind of ignorance to take a handicap space away from someone who needs it. Barrett Ave residents have provided a photo taken within the past few days of a vehicle belonging to a student who shouldn't be parking there. So, what does "no" mean anyway?

permalinkCheck these photos from across Lancaster in Haverford Twp. Why over there too? According to those residents of the neighboring township they aren't supposed to be parking there either....
