"Oh Blogga' Please...."
|
LOL! "Oh Blogga' Please" Our apologies to Bill Maher, but that comment is priceless, and with regard to his new show segment "Blogga Please", he would be amused by all this local election drama and undoubtedly find "New Rules" to be created just for our part of the world, eh? So listen, we are NOT advocating blog attacks, but this little thing of note that popped up on a State Senate candidate's blog was amusing because it seems this person is learning about blogging now? But this post demonstrates WHY blog owners reserve the right to remove comments at will when they bother them for whatever reason....falls under the category of "your site/your rules", right? This is kinda like dictating your own personal taste level, right? We don't know what was said that was removed, nor do we care to have them repeated, we just find it all interesting, which is ok, right? We agree that people's kids should be left out of political races, because being a kid is tough enough. Sins of the mothers and fathers and all that. But if kids of politicians are adults and NOT children as defined by law, does it depend upon what they are doing as adults? Face it, no matter what age, it is often pretty darn tough to be the spawn of politicians, isn't it? Except, on a local level, are the pressures really the same as it is if you are the child of a Congressman, U.S. Senator, Governor, or President or Vice President? BUT as all that is being contemplated, political candidates need to take the good with the bad, as well. It's called political reality. After all, you can't control everything and everyone as you reach for the brass rings of political big time, can you? Yes, politicians can and have the right to moderate what is within their own personal control on their own websites, blogs, speeches, press releases. But if they are putting it out there into the realm of public knowledge as a public offical or as a candidate for office, they are creating their own political relevance. Politics is not a happy game at times, and if you can't handle people who don't care for you, your politics, your sense of humor, your record, whatever, then step aside because can it be said that for ever higher office you seek in the political arena you have to be prepared for the good, bad, and indifferent? Can it be said it will ALL happen eventually right or wrong? Why not just ignore the comments as part of the cost of doing business? What political candidate large or small in this country today doesn't get snarkled on the occasional blog or letter to the editor? Maybe it isn't right, or maybe it's o.k, but isn't this just part and parcel of politics? Look at Daylin Leach: for all the political mud that has been slung at him, and Connie Williams too for that matter, do you see them ever reacting to this stuff? No. Why is that? Is it because they understand that like it or not, it's all part of the process of being in the public eye? Look at Jim Gerlach? He's had it slung at him but good, yet what does he do? Didn't he rise above it and keep on trucking time and again? Are these candidates for the 17th PA State Senatorial District planning to take a "clean campaign pledge"? And here's food for thought: if candidates are honest and forthright and truthful about their hopes, desires, wishes, and real accomplishments, what do any of them have to worry about? Blogs do serve a purpose out there in cyberspace, and it isn't just to be free advertising - it gives people the opportunity to express themselves doesn't it? SAC doesn't endorse, but as with elections past, we pass information along as we find it: newspaper articles, letters to the editor, new websites, purely political-centric blog posts, etc. IF politicians seeking office this election cycle or others in the community do NOT like what they see, they are welcome to post a response if they so choose. But please note that our webmaster feels very strongly about sock puppets, and he really knows what they mean. This is revving up to be one obnoxious election season we feel - from state level to national level there is simply too much at stake....here's that post that was up on Google (we are featuring their excerpt only - for more you can go to the candidate's website):
And we found this as a comment under that post http://paolinoforsenate.blogspot.com/2008/01/letter-to-community.html and here is an excerpt:
Ok, so the blog to which this comment was posted was that of the candidate for state senator, so how about THIS: whomever wrote the comments that were removed are exercising their First Amendment rights and have started a counter blog spot! Oh boy oh girl, it's HIGH drama time in the 17th! Here is this counter blog: http://lisapaolinoforsenate.blogspot.com/ - yikes! As Betty Davis once said "Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night," This blogger means business: And they have a blog disclaimer too....the election games have begun....we are sitting in a comfy chair with popcorn and watching it all unfold like an onion: layer by layer...and lest we forget.... Round Radnor: So maybe it was a tie?
So, now is the time to find out: which Delco Republicans in power are looking Lance Rogers way as their choice for the 17th? Anyway, we'll keep watching from the sidelines. This is getting crazy...totally crazy. Bookmark/Search this post with: |

A certain female State Senate Candidate was after signatures at Bryn Mawr Train Station in Lower Merion Township this a.m. 1/31/08 for her petition and someone who e-mailed us seemed surprised she did not already have the requisite amount of signatures from her home township of Radnor? The people who e-mailed us all said they had no clue who this person was ...not that it matters....she is welcome like any other candidate to stand out in the cold on a train platform. Sheesh, SAC members have stood on cold train platforms in years past to get signatures for stuff - it's the American way! (Kind of like 1st Amendment Rights)
Did we share what Tony Phyrillas said? He calls her a "minor" candidate? Interesting. And here's the former commissioner election website: http://www.radnorfifthward.com/ it feeds to this new website: http://www.lisapaolino.com/ which in turn sends us to sites like http://www.jewishphilly.org/index.html - is jewishphilly.org endorsing her or something?
Please note NEW campaign slogan seems familiar? Isn't the NEW one the one from the commissioner races?
Correct us if we are wrong, but wasn't the slogan for the election this past November this:
Ok ALL candidates here's the 411: If we need people to just listen to us that is what shrinks, friends, significant others and bartenders are for. Yes we want you to listen, but we need to know what you have done and specifically what your goals are if elected. No spin, the truth. Maybe truth in political advertising is asking too much?
When we pulled up this page on the new site, we found some gobbldeygook we don't understand:
And here is another new article on this candidate - wow! She sure is getting it out there: Main Line Today/Issue Date: View February 2008, Posted On: 1/21/2008

Political potshots? Would that be giving or receiving?
isn't it interesting that we are hearing nothing from the other candidates now? It's all about one candidate? Could this be the smartest political strategy of all? Say nothing while another candidate is out there good, bad, or indifferent?
And here, we'll throw this candidate a bone: she's opening her office in Lower Merion's Bryn Mawr Sat. February 2nd- if you want a donut and free coffee and to meet her, according to a press release issued by a press contact named Alexis Bradley - :
SAC NOTE: The real draw for this location are the stores and salons and places to eat near by - Don't get messy and stressed over politics, go get pampered or treat yourself to a new outfit or check out the new wine selections at the State Store which is also close by....we also note we adore the "stunning student rental" sign that was hanging off the second floor on 1000 W. Lancaster Ave. - it adds a certain je ne sais quois.....will the Villanova Young Republicans be at the grand opening?

permalinkOk, we just got a hot tip: "A Patriot" has been deleted again!
"A Patriot" ....is being erased we guess?
"A Patriot" has been quiet though...no updates ...
BUT there is a blogger called "WRITEMARSH" calling Lance Rogers bad names...sigh, it is definitely elections season...interestingly enough we can't find anyone taking many pot shots at Daylin Leach...we find him referenced most recently on Young Philly Politics....
For other political fun (as in other than our local goldfish bowl), check out http://blogs.phillynews.com/inquirer/heardinthehall/ and http://www.asmokefilledroom.blogspot.com/
And since "A Patriot" was deleted, the candidate has been writing on her blob again... Yawn
