Ahhhhhhh.....the sweet smell of politics

*UPDATE* Since we we first brought you this post yesterday, the post we referenced yesterday was pulled down. We are going to bring you this blogger's perceptions of the Lincoln Day Dinner and his desire for a nomination "do over".(Is that what they call a "Policial Mulligan"?) We noticed no reference was made to the other candidate, the candidate from Delaware County? Wouldn't this have made an ideal opportunity for her to rub elbows and plead her case to Ken Davis in person? HMMMMM. Guess we are too busy collecting signatures? Guess we got that idea for that crucially important e-worldwide press release from Guy Ciarorocchi of Tredyffrin? And if a candidate is their own media contact is that like a surgeon doing self-surgery?

From Yesterday:

Alrighty. This post serves no other purpose than to say enough. Yesterday, we chose to promote a new blog and new blogger from the other side of Montgomery County because quite frankly, he was the first to send out a citizen based list of questions to the candidates for the PA Senate seat in the 17th district. We did not agree with all questions posed, but we did appreciate the ones that were bi-partisan and sort of universal in nature (except for the underwear question as that is just TMI or "too much information").

However, this morning, this blogger still seems to not get it on the nomination process. We're going to do a little clarifying, but first we are going to state something for the record: This is not a political endorsement of one candidate over the other. But those of us in Lower Merion have a distinct advantage in the fact that we know BOTH candidates from BOTH parties: Lance Rogers is one of our commissioners and Daylin Leach is our state representative. They are known qauntities.

So this morning the blog Writemarsh posts a post about being contacted by the campaign of Lance Rogers (and what you have heard from no one else?). This blog in return for agreeing to meet with Lance Rogers wants, in essence, a "do over" on the nomination that occured a week ago.

Are there "do overs"? Yes, it's called legal recourse. The candidates who feel they were wronged, in this case, Lisa Paolino and John Durante, have the right to challenge the results at the state level and in the court system. Do we think they will? Doubtful since technically nothing was done wrong.

And mind you, no one is defending Ken Davis as we haven't yet forgiven him for the part he played in the township considering eminent domain for private gain once upon a time. However, it is WRONG for any of us to punish candidates for essentially thankless jobs just because we seriously dislike the party bosses of whichever political party we belong to.

Writemarsh needs to seperate the arguments: how he feels about Lance Rogers and how he feels about Ken Davis. He also needs to reach out to Tom Judge. These two party bosses came to the decision together. Ken Davis didn't just arbitrarily decide to do this. He couldn't.

And take a page out of our book Writemarsh, if you don't like Ken Davis, vote him out of your political party. If you don't like what happened, you should also be taking Tom Judge to task - it may take you out of your comfort level because it's another county, but it is wrong that no one asks him to explain/defend his deferrment decision since he played a part in it. Again, it's pretty much that simple. But stop the rest of it. You also don't have to meet with Lance Rogers if you don't want to, but again, seperate your issues.

And if the other candidates want to be heard, let them get out and get up on an old fashioned soapbox and speak for themselves. Writemarsh, even if blogs are agreeing to disagree, you have exercised your First Amnedment Rights and that is important.

Writemarsh: Lance Rogers et Al

Lance Rogers wants to know why I don't like him.

I've been contacted by a third party, who shall remain nameless, and a meeting was requested between myself and Lance. Our interested third party even offered to moderate.

I said I'd think about it. And I did.

I will give Lance Rogers his face time when he requests that Ken Davis put an end to the controversy surrounding his "endorsement". I want Lance to demand that Davis call a new endorsement meeting, this time inviting Rogers, Durante and "that...woman", Paolino to the event. On top of that, I'd like to see the Delaware County contingent of the 17th district represented, as well. Make this an honest endorsement and I will agree to meet with him the very next day.
