Oh Blogga' Please Part II
|
Heavy sigh.....Webmaster Doug, we need a new category to add to the list above. Call it Oh Blogga' Please if you please. (Our first similarly titled post can be found by clicking here if the readers are interested). Ok, so we told you a new citizen journalist entered the fray recently, and when he decided to send out a questionnaire to candidates we mentioned it here (and ummm, maybe some of the number of hits he has received can be attributed to this blog mentioning that blog?) So this morning Writemarsh Blogger Bill seems to be lamenting the fact that no one from the 17th Senatorial District in particular has replied to him. Not even his NBF from Radnor? Yes, apparently not, so check it out: Writemarsh: Wednesday, February 27, 2008
O.k., this is why we're saying Oh Blogga Please. Seriously, our friend from the other side of Montgomery County has to realize something, he's new. Yes,we bet he's had a lot of hits on his website, but he's new. If he were Tony Phyrillas, maybe they would have hopped to, but we know from our own personal experience that sometimes the questions have to go out more than once. AND when we did our survey -we sent it out hard copy as well. We received our surveys/questionnaires back, but honestly, we do not recall all who were sent them completed them, and that was their choice. (refer to http://www.saveardmorecoalition.org/candidates ) Completing a questionnaire is voluntary, none of us are the League of Women Voters (and candidates routinely ignore LWV surveys too). Which brings us to the another point. While we understand the humor he tried to interject into the questionnaire, ummmm, isn't the underwear question similar to humor people criticized someone about a couple of years ago? Seriously, asking candidates "Boxer, briefs, bikini, thong, or commando?" while humorous, well, if you want to be taken seriously and there is a female candidate in the mix, is it appropriate? (Even if in our secret heart of hearts, we would be very amused if they answered the question We're not touching the rest of the questions again, as we have no overwhelming desire to get into a huge philosophical debate. We will say that a lot of the questions might have done better as being couched in the parameters of what is important to that blogger in particular. And the blogger also has to remember that no matter where we all fall in our political belief systems, these candidates have to appeal to a broad range of folks from conservative to liberal and every person in between. Some of the questions are extreme national hot potatoes we don't even see the national big kids touching, so can you force a statie to answer them? In a word, no. Especially when the nature of some of the questions aren't considered "safe" topics by either political party - maybe that isn't the right way to be, but it is reality. So maybe this blogger should be a little more patient - a week isn't all that much time in the lives of any of these people right now is it? So maybe this blogger also might wish to take a second some of his questions or eliminate them for the time being? Honestly, while we give great credit to this blogger for putting it "out there".
