Officials: 3 Teens Charged With Breaking Into Plymouth Township Home

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A local teen hailed as a hero for helping to prevent a school massacre is now under arrest, charged with breaking into the house of the boy who planned the school attack.

The whole thing started in October, NBC 10's Deanna Durante reported....Now, it's the tipster who is in trouble with the law.....Sources said the alleged burglaries happened in January and late February, and the teens were bragging about the heists at school. A school administrator apparently heard the rumors and notified police.

A hearing is scheduled today for three youths charged with stealing items from the bedroom of the teenager who admitted plotting a Columbine-style attack at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

According to three sources, one of those charged is Lew Bennett 3d, the high school freshman who in October tipped police off to the planned attack and was later personally commended by President Bush.

The case received national attention after police found four homemade hand grenades, a 9mm semiautomatic carbine, and other weapons in the bedroom of Dillon Cossey, then 14. He later admitted to the plot.

The sources, who spoke to people directly involved in the case, declined to be identified because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

Yesterday, Montgomery County officials would only say that three juveniles have been charged with burglary, theft, conspiracy and related offenses in Plymouth Township, where Cossey lived with his parents....The names of the other two juveniles could not be determined yesterday.

Lawyers for Dillon Cossey and his mother, Michelle, did confirm that an investigation has been under way into a break-in at the Cossey home....Michelle Cossey's attorney, Timothy Woodward, said she told him that the juveniles had "entered Dillon's room through the window." He did not know the date of the alleged crime.
