Isn't it Funny How Political Candidates Have to Try To Use Our Popularity?

We love politics and we love campaign season, because without fail, something makes us giggle at least once a week.

Today it is the lastest press release from She Who Would Be King. The press release in itself isn't anything fabulous and basically says she got two Delco politicians to say she's cute (awwwww, maybe she'll get that Adolph guy a makeover?)

What is funny are the tags she uses at the end...she uses US...makes us think of a very funny rendition of a rather amusing rap song, huh?

It's all very droll, utterly predictable, darn amusing and somewhat pathetic....sigh, poor baby, we know it's tough to pimp for yourself and all, right? This candidate knows who is more interesting/important....The Save Ardmore Coalition! But hey, we're not singing the blues, we know we are the originals in community leadership, right?

We're the group that politicians love to hate...and love to pretend to belong to as well, apparently?

Makes us want to sing another song, right?

Careful, she might sic her Internet Lawyer on us!

Well that would make for an interesting conversation considering her campaign in effect has tried to link her to us? Who, in effect is creating political relevance?

And to answer the unanswered questions: no, she isn't a member of SAC involved in Ardmore and Lower Merion , no we do not endorse political candidates for office, but we will promote political news as it tickles our fancy, and mock as the first amendment allows.

Letters to the Editor

Choice clear for 17th District state Senate race

To the Editor:

The Republican Party presidential primary may no longer be contested, but there is an important state Senate primary race to bring Radnor and Lower Merion Republicans to the polls on April 22, 2008..... Lance Rogers, the endorsed Republican candidate, is being challenged by Lisa Paolino.

Paolino is a commissioner in Radnor Township where I reside, and Rogers is a commissioner in Lower Merion Township. They may both be township commissioners, but on fiscal discipline and taxpayer advocacy, there is a clear distinction.

Observers of Lower Merion politics have noted that Rogers has been a strong advocate for Lower Merion taxpayers.....Unfortunately for Radnor taxpayers, Paolino has voted three times to raise our real estate taxes. We do not need another tax and spend politician in Harrisburg....

Ken Davis got it wrong

To the Editor:

I write to respond to the Ken Davis letter concerning the process for the Republican endorsement for the 17th state Senatorial District and his comments about Lisa Paolino, a long term Radnor commissioner with an extensive business background who is running for the nomination in the spring Republican primary.

....Frankly, I don't know why Ken Davis keeps going on and on about the endorsement process. The facts have been endlessly reported on the web. You can read the account of what occurred and listen to a phone message Ken Davis left, where he refers to Lisa Paolino as "that woman" at http://writemarsh.blogspot.com if you want details. (Look on the right-hand side of favorite links and click Davis Phone Message.) Ken concedes in his letter to the editor that the committee people in Radnor and Haverford were not invited to the endorsement meeting and have had no say in the selection of the candidate. Most importantly the committee people know they had no say. They also know that the candidate supported by Ken Davis wasn't even a Republican when he won the seat as a commissioner two years ago, and only registered as a Republican shortly prior to his announcement for this seat. Ken's candidate has never won an election as a Republican. Lisa has won three successful elections as a Republican, in a ward where Republicans are not the majority.

On election night in the past two races for this seat, I have received phone calls from the campaigns of the candidates selected by the Montgomery County Republican Committee hoping I will be able to tell them that we have racked up big numbers for their candidates. On election night, they want to know if Radnor and Haverford have delivered the margin of victory they need but they haven't selected candidates who are able to win in the district. The Radnor Committee believes that the candidate who can win this seat and get the needed support is Lisa Paolino, the only real Republican in the race.

Chair, Radnor Republican Committee
