It's Looking a Lot Like...LANCE over Lisa!!!

Can we now say "L" is for "Lisa" and "L" is for "Lost"?

Should this be our theme song of the morning? (click below)

Steam - Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Them Goodbye

We want to thank everyone on the Main Line who gave their time yesterday as a volunteer in any election race no matter for what candidate or party. It was a very exciting day, and honestly? No matter what political party or persuasion you are, you have to an extent thank Senators Clinton and Obama for invigorating the electorate as a whole. Finally, yesterday, Pennsylvanians had anything but a ho hum Presidential Primary.

So that race is looking like Hillary today, and McCain should take to heart the small percentage of protest votes as votes were recorded for Ron Paul and Huckabee.

Now...onto the good stuff. Daylin Leach is obviously the Democrat on the State Senate 17th District ballot for the fall, and it's looking safe to say at this point that Lance Rogers trounced Lisa Paolino for the Republican ticket for the 17th Senate District for the fall!

Voters seemed to have sent Ms. Paolino a clear message on "change", and this morning it is looking like with the exception of Radnor Township where the unofficial count is Rogers 907 votes and Paolino 1304, it appears that all other municipalities went to Lance.

But Ms. Paolino doesn't have appeared to taken Delco unanimously. A squeaker it was, BUT Haverford Township appears to have gone to Rogers 2,563 to 2,537. So what does that say to George Twardy and his many minions of nasty who were out at the polls in HT yesterday? Not that George was the only one who had people behaving badly. We have had reports overnight of a very nice woman volunteering in HT got spat on by a Paolino volunteer late in the day? Now seriously, was that necessary? How utterly classless, huh?

Ms. Paolino, it's looking like Lance, and it's looking like you need to graciously concede. The voters have spoken, and even if you won Radnor, it wasn't by astounding margins, and that should be a clear message to you, shouldn't it? Can you be compared to the boy who cried wolf? You cried foul, yet look how you conducted your campaign? Look at the numbers in your township who switched their political party affiliation, because if you take a big look, the times they may be a changing. How will this race and the party affiliation shift in Radnor affect Ms. Paolino in future bids for commissioner in Radnor Township? Only time will tell, right?

Here are the reports in the media:

In unofficial results from Montgomery County, with 49 percent of the vote in, Rogers was leading 3,765 to Paolino’s 1,565.

Vote returns last night indicated Lower Merion Township Commissioner Lance Rogers beat Radnor Township Commissioner Lisa Paolino in the 17th State Senate District primary election.

Mr. Rogers garnered 57.6 percent of the vote over Ms. Paolino's 42.4 percent as of 10:40 p.m. The primary's conclusion ends a bitter campaign over who will go on to challenge state Rep. Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery) in November to succeed retiring Democratic state Sen. Connie Williams.

....During the primary campaign, Mr. Rogers garnered support from a host of prominent public officials, including U.S. Rep. Jim Gerlach, whose district includes a large part of Montgomery County.

"He's done a terrific job as commissioner here in the township," Mr. Gerlach said yesterday. "I think he'll be able to get a lot of good things done."

PS Since it is going to be two candidates we know for the 17th, can we ask both of them once the dust settles a bit to shake hands and go forth with a much less caustic general election? We want both Lance and Daylin to consider it. The general election will be hairy enough....

The people have spoken, and they've said, "GTFO, Lisa".

Keystone Politics, which has not said anything we could find previously says it's a Lance WIN; PA Watercooler is leaning his way...wonder if there were enough poll watchers in Delco, though?

HaverfordBlog is calling it for Lance, and a very interesting comment under "Haverford Blog › Haverford Township Politics, Issues and Services › Haverford Township Commissioners › Twardy Watch" from a poster called "ARRRGGGHHH" says:

Re: Twardy Watch
Reply #24 - Today at 08:48:30 Looks as though Paolino gave up on Montgomery County (where she got trounced) and hoped to make it up and more in Delco. Unfortunately for her, she barely won her home township of Radnor. She must be disappointed but I also hope she learned something, which is that her behavior during and before this race is repugnant to some folks and she should change her, "anything goes if you want to reach the finish line first" attitude. She is a bright woman but her ethics (or lack thereof) will continue to get in her way. Quaero vestri pectoris, lady

Any Latin scholars out there to translate "Quaero vestri pectoris"?

Also, Giza, the Blog of our webmaster has some thoughts:

The people have spoken.

...So, what can we learn from this? For starters, character really does matter. When you employ sleazy campaign tactics, people are going to call you on it and talk about you. And when your response to the criticism is to whine about your opponent's "harassment".....
