Yesterday and Today: Can a Piece of the Fabric of North Wayne History Be Saved From Demolition?

Over the weekend, some of our members and SAC friends have dug into the history of 236 N.Aberdeen Ave.in
Wayne,PA. The plans for the demise of this historic home in North Wayne is scheduled for Monday,May 5, 2008 7 P.M.

Thanks to Greg Pritchard and Ted Pollard of Wayne, our members got a chance to see a photo of the home at 236 N. Aberdeen when it was built. Amazingly enough, you can still see the original house in the home of today - basically, it looks the same save for the bad asbestos siding. The photo came with a message:

"Here's a photo of the house at 236 N. Aberdeen when it was new. This image comes from the Spring, 1958 Radnor Historical Society Bulletin, which had a full article about the Lengels. According to the article, Jonathan Lengel built the house for his family in 1888. Herman P. Lengel (himself a prolific builder) and his twin brother were born in the house. "

Hmmmmm...could Radnor Township be ALL WET over this application? Will Radnor have the guts to do the right thing for a small neighborhood not resplendent with McMonstrosities? What will Radnor do? We hope it's the right thing, don't all of you?
