Cricket Ave Ardmore: The Road To Good Intentions Paved With BAD Plans?
|
Hey now, hi now, ho now....we haven't forgotten Ardmore in our flurry of other development news that just sucks (sorry, but if the descriptive adjective fits, it fits)...and before we get into our Cricket picking, are there any questions for the township or chosen developer for Ardmore? Ask now. But back to our regularly scheduled programming: Our pals at S.W. Land Associates (who seem to hail residentially from Radnor Township, right?) are still in a developing state of mind for Cricket Avenue. There's the continuing saga of 130, the beginning saga of 106 ....Can we say Cricket Ave in Ardmore is a street of unease? When we last checked into 130 Cricket Ave (covered here and here just to name a couple of posts), we had wondered as to the state of the appeal S.W. Land Associates - they filed suit in Montgomery County after they were a developer told "no" (can we say we figured they would either do that or come up with the ultilmate developer threat : "if you aren't good neighbors we'll put up a WalMart"?) So anyway, we noticed a new attorney in town for them, as well as the spin doctor who used to be a Main Line Health Mouthpiece (as in Bryn Mawr neighborhoods bye -bye) ? So now on www.montcopa.org there is something new under the suit they filed (which taxpayers are paying for since LMT had to defend):
Hmmm...so it's not over and NOW we have to deal with the potential of another bad plan on 106 Cricket? And we are just supposed to trust them? We're supposed to believe they have the best interest of a community they just want to develop in as opposed to live in? We are just supposed to trust developers in a real estate market that IS firmly in the toilet and a national and regional and perhaps even local economy is blaring recession? What they are doing really has nothing to do with Ardmore's overall redevelopment plan, and this is what worries us when talking about Ardmore redevelopment. HOW MANY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS CAN THE LITTLE TOWN OF ARDMORE HANDLE WITHOUT EXPLODING? Now what is curious is we are asking once again if these folks at SW Land only have options to buy 130 and 106 Cricket Avenue? We do not see them listed on the property records on www.montcopa.org:
So, people of Cricket Avenue, how do you feel about this development? Still wondering like we are how we can trust a developer who will sue to fit their square peg into the round hole at 130 Cricket? Now maybe if they had completely walked away by now from 130 Cricket we wouldn't be so uneasy, but they haven't. Is it that they have to be right at all costs? Have to develop at all costs? And also (just curious), is it super bad mojo to build over a funeral home like it is a cemetary? We only ask because it seems to be an issue with those who believe in Feng Shui:
And.....
Anyway.....we think that perhaps Lower Merion Township needs to do something about Cricket Avenue, right? Residents: you have to show up at this meeting and be heard. If you have an opinion pro or con development, show up and be heard. (For other small neighborhoods with development concerns, please feel free to check out this post, and soon we will be checking back on Central Ave in Bryn Mawr which will undoubtedly be hashed out at a public hearing ) Bookmark/Search this post with: |
