Ardmore West Parking nightmares
|
While it is wonderful to see the Ardmore West Shopping center thriving, I would like to know if anyone believes the parking is adequate or safe. I frequent the shops there and recently had a fender bender in parking lot. Does anyone have data on how many accidents a day occur there ? It would be wonderful if the landlords could post some signs that discouraged "backing in" to spots. Or arrows to show clearly which way traffic should be running within the lot. It's basically a dangerous free for all. Since the Chipolte opened I have now taken to parking and paying the meter at Szechuan Garden and walking to Ardmore West shops. Driving and parking in there has become too crazy. No guidelines and too many entrances and exits. If anyone at SAC could let me know if studies are being done, I would certainly appreciate that information. Or can you let me know name of lot owners so I can inquire directly. Thank you. And that would be why I sold my car and walk around everywhere.
BTW, I promoted your post to the front page.

permalinkDear Lynnralphie,
You are like a mind reader! The parking and traffic flow at Ardmore West is AWFUL. And there are tons of fender benders there all of the time. But the thing is this, often police aren't involved in little fender benders. Now the police have been involved when things occured like the car that just about drove into the Rite Aid. But this is private property, not township property ---- so, it is a different kettle of fish....
Backing into spots is a definite issue, AND the shopping center should take notice of that and other issues. Contact Stolz http://www.stoltzusa.com/

Interesting to note is that if you look through the properties they manage in Ardmore, it shows they manage the old Ardmore Theatre (now the Philadelphia Sports Club) AND that horrible Blockbuster next to Ardmore Worst. Blockbuster only adds to the issues of traffic circulation and parking. Plus the thing backs up to Lancaster Ave with that blank wall like it is a prison. And how about the trash that always seems to collect at Blockbuster? And at Ardmore West?
Here is one of my favorite photos I have seen on it:
