It pays to peruse the weeklies online. On www.mainlinelife.com in an article teaser by Rich Ilgenfritz it says Lower Merion Police Department's top cop, Supt. Joe Daly might be leaving? To go to Springfield (Delco) PD? WOW. Joe Daly is the image of LMPD....when you think of Lower Merion's Police Force, you think of him, because he has been part of the fabric of the community for more than 30 years, right? Isn't Supt. Daly sort of synonymous with Lower Merion? Wow. But you know what? It's pretty amazing we have had the continuity with him all of these years, and in the end he has to do what is best for him and his family. Stay tuned, this will be interesting: LM's top cop leaving?

Charlie Sexton has a lot of skeletons in his closet.
It's too bad dad's not around to see his arch nemesis Charlie Sexton's name on the front page of the morning paper right next to the letters, "F.B.I."

You know what is SO strange? This story about Daly leaving or supposedly leaving has now been out for weeks. There have been several Lower Merion Township meetings, public meetings, and NO ONE has mentioned this elephant in the room. Now last night on the Police Committee agenda there was one item about the Police Pension Fund, something about the graffiti ordinance update, and one other thing about tickets that sounded like they were making nurses nurse practitioners or something, but once again, no news if anyone is going anywhere. Isn't that strange?
Check out by clicking HERE, an article in this week's Main Line Life...a reality TV show about Vietnam Vets - Daly was one of them. He earned both a purple heart and a bronze star, which is quite impressive. Did not know that previous to this.
Funny thing, right after I posted the above post about Charlie Sexton is that one of Weldon's former aides pleaded guilty in this onging F.B.I. investigation according to the Inquirer.
As for Daly, I did know about his service in Vietnam and it is strange that nobody except the Township Manager has commented on Daly leaving. One would think the local papers would have asked various commissioners for their take on Daly leaving, what a great loss it will be, etc.
Strange indeed.

So, more on this from a large article in the Delco Times called "Cop Shop":

Commissioner Lee Janiczek motioned for the Daly’s approval, noting his 14 years as superintendent of Lower Merion Police, which has a staff of 139 sworn officers compared to about three dozen in Springfield. Janiczek said among other qualifications was the active and aggressive pursuit of grants, estimated in Daly’s resume at $15 million.
Before voting, Commissioner Paul Wechsler said the selection of a police chief is among the most critical decisions the board makes. He said three highly qualified candidates were on the short list. Though not stated publicly, the two township lieutenants were thought to be considered.
Daly has also served as acting township manager and assistant township manager in Lower Merion during a period of administrative transition when he was temporary on leave as captain of police.......
So, in Main Line Times it says he might be taking the offer, yet this says something different?
Then there is this opinion from News of Delaware County that is not so flattering, but it seems the intended target of ire is someone named Sexton in Delco:
