PLEASE NOTE/UPDATE: there is NO agenda posted as of 7:45 a.m. the day of this meeting about this meeting! NICE TOUCH! WHAT IS RADNOR TRYING TO HIDE?

Hey concerned Radnor residents, historic preservationists, neighborhood preservations, Little Chicagoans, and other interested parties! 236 North Aberdeen wasn't on this evening's agenda because the realtors, err developers filed an extension letter with Radnor Township - that will extend them approximately a month. This item will most probably resurface in the dead, dead, dead of AUGUST

That means, kids, that we are talking about August 18th, 2008 at 7:00 PM at the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners.

So, yes, in the dead of summer, unless you are vigilent, this neighborhood could be forever negatively and irrevocably changed. Like those fine folks at Rosedon, who wish to put public storage of rich men's cars at Plant and PA in North Wayne, these folks have no true hardship, they just want to develop, don't they? Pick your poison, but the 236 N. Aberdeen plan is simply a bad plan. The folks on North Aberdeen and Willow Ave have suffered enough over the years, no one needs or deserves this. And point of fact there has been no reported good will or contact on the part of these "developers" and isn't that what the Planning Commission asked of them as they passed this loaded buck to the Commissioners in Radnor?

Please attend public meetings and exercise public participation over this and other issues. Write letters to the newspapers Call and write the Ward 1 Commissioner Hank Mahoney. Contact the Radnor Township Manager. When you are contacting, don't forget the erstwile Radnor Township Engineer Let your voices be heard. That is YOUR right as citizens. It's ok to say you don't like plans. Truly. If it affects where you live and pay taxes, have a voice.
North Wayne, PA 060

Here's hoping the Ward 1 Commissioner advocates for the low rent part of his ward proactively and protectively. Here's hoping the Radnor Community Preservation Coalition takes action. Here's hoping the Delaware Riverkeeper offers an opinion on The Gulph Creek. Here's hoping the Radnor Historical Society and North Wayne Protective get happy too. Save Jonathan Lengel's House. Save The Gulph Creek. Save a Neighborhood. Preserve Neighborhood Character. Say no to bad plans. Demand better. You're worth it.

An update on development in Radnor Township

...North Wayne

In North Wayne two proposed projects have stalled.

A proposal to build a public-storage facility on Pennsylvania Avenue was stymied when the township’s Zoning Hearing Board voted to deny multiple requests for zoning relief by the Rosendon Holding Company LP in April.

Rosendon, which is on the agenda for the board’s July 17 meeting, is now seeking relief for off-street parking requirements, front-yard and rear-yard setbacks, and parking in front-yard setbacks.

Originally the company had twice as many requests for zoning relief.

The property is zoned Service Commercial so public storage is allowed. But some neighbors expressed concern about the idea while some zoning members expressed concern over the proposed size and scale.

Nearby the owners of the home of a prolific Wayne builder from the 1800s on North Aberdeen Avenue are seeking to demolish the single house and build two twins in its place.

At a May meeting, some members of the Board of Commissioners said they wanted to hold off voting on the subdivision request until the Federal Emergency Management Agency reviews and rules on a floodplain change made by the property owner’s engineer and later approved by the Radnor Township engineer.

As of this week the township got a letter of extension from property owners David Buckley and Sherrie Burlingham. The commissioners will await word from FEMA before revisiting the subdivision proposal.

Wandered around Wayne yesterday with a friend part of the afternoon...great day for a walk - took a gander at 236 N. Aberdeen and took note of large amount of trash like someone is moving? Are the tenants of the property under debate for the ill advised, greedy, and uncecessary development the first casualties of this proposed development? Will the owners seek yet another extension? Will FEMA defend the floodplain lines or can they be persuaded moving them is "ok" like the Radnor Township Engineer? What other lines has the Radnor Township Engineer allowed to be moved without first walking the property? Check out these photos we took...of 236 and of what can only be described as the scariest house on the Main Line on the corner of Plant and Willow. It looks abandoned, only it isn't. It looks so unstable, and would anyone care if that house was purchased by a developer to be turned into something else? And why was Cowan's Alley full of weird vehicles?
