Main Line Times/Main Line Media News: TD Bank in Haverford robbed
Published: Friday, May 15, 2009
By Richard Ilgenfritz

The TD Bank at 401 W. Lancaster Ave., in Haverford was robbed today. Due to a quick response by the Police Department, two individuals were arrested while attempting to flee the scene of the robbery. No one was injured and a full recovery of the bank's money is anticipated. Additional details of the robbery are listed in the the e-mail below....

Today at 1254 hours a male entered the TD Bank, 401 W. Lancaster Ave., in Haverford, produced a demand note for money stating he had a gun. Subject obtained a sum of money from a teller and then fled the bank on foot.

Patrol officers responding to the scene determined that a dye pack with the bank money had exploded on the steps to the Haverford Train Station. A sum of money was located on the steps.

Officers responding to the area stopped a male walking alone on Montgomery Ave near Woodside Rd.

This subject had traces of dye on his arm. Two witnesses from the bank identified this male as the perpetrator of the robbery and he was arrested.

Officers at the Haverford Station located a witness who stated that the male (arrestee) was seen with another subject who got on the east bound train. At the request of police this train was stopped at the Ardmore Station. Subsequent investigation determined that a female on this train had an amount of money in her possession that was stolen during this bank robbery. She was also arrested.

A Press Release will be prepared when more information is developed.

Lower Merion cops on scene.

Guy ran towards R5 Haverford Septa train station and dye pack must have exploded because there is pack of cash on steps to east (inbound tracks)

Have no other details.

Did not see it happen - came upon it immediately after.

I will have more later. Main Line Media News is covering. No one at the bank was injured.

Great work by the LM Police.

How come bank robbers were never caught when Joe Daly was police chief? Was not the bank across the street from the police station robbed four times and the bank robbers were never caught when Daly was chief?

Glad to see an improvement here.

HAVERFORD -- Two bank robbery suspects are in police custody Friday afternoon following a botched bank robbery at the TD Bank branch in Haverford on Lancaster Avenue just before 1 p.m.

Police said one of the suspects, a male, was arrested as he attempted to make his escape on foot along Montgomery Avenue near Woodside. The other suspect, a woman, was arrested after getting on the train at the Haverford Station. After learning that the woman was on the train police called up and asked that the train be stopped at Ardmore where she was arrested.
