My favorite blog is Save Ardmore Coalition. My second favorite blog is JustSnarky. When I can't get enough of what is going on at SAC, my next web stop is JustSnarky, JustSnarky just got Best Blog from Main Line Today magazine. I dispute that. Snarky can't hold a candle to Carla. But regular SAC'ers will probably like to get the Snarky fix too. |

Carla,
You had my vote but, Jacta alea est.
OK, not to sound dumb, but there was a vote on best local blogs? Really? LOL, but the only thing I know about Main Line Today recently is that the cover photo and 5 others that appeared in the May 2009 magazine's special insert are mine. I got a byline but no compensation for the shots - in the end though, I have to tell you, that as an amateur photog learning, it was REALLY cool to see MY photograph with a photo byline in a magazine - because now I know they ARE pretty good:

I didn't know that until now. Good for you!

ChattyPatty, I totally agree! SAC, followed by JustSnarky, which is hilarious (and quite informative) - the pictures and political cartoons alone are screamingly funny.
However, for hilarity of the unintentional variety, there is no blog equal to RoundRadnor.blogspot.com!
It seems to make the people in my ward happy. That is who I write it for. The real hilarity is your continued sniping.
i concur with chattypatty! it is so cool that this award exists (though like carla, i have never heard of it).
if i ever got asked to rate the 5 local blogs/sites (that i know of) in an order of favorites, mine would be this -
1. s.a.c. - doug and carla, and the bloggers (politeia, chips, etc.) are top notch. daily reading of this site is essential for getting the pulse of the main line.
2. justsnarky.blogspot.com - this is like reading mark twain. sarcastic, biting satire, and usually so on point.
3. radnorward7.com - 7th ward commissioner john fisher does a pretty good job keeping up to date with events and issues in radnor.
4. rsbdirector.com - radnor school board director eric zajacs site. nothing special, nothing particularly bad. it doesnt get updated a lot. meh.
5. roundradnor.blogspot.com - apologies to john nagle. he probably means well. however, i find myself shaking my head at what he writes all the time (though he is correct about how rotten lisa paolino is - although that is not heavily disputed).
I agree with your list (and your order).
Also, I often check out the "Other Blogs We Like" and "Other Sites We Like" links on the left hand column of this site under "Main Menu".
I enjoy Just Snarky, but obviously it was the safe pick for Main Line Today. It is anonymous and has nobody commenting so it is a known commodity and not a big threat to the print media. A lot of the posts are on national stories which also don't threaten the local print media.
The SAC blogs pull no punches on local issues and have a variety of opinions and views supported by a variety of bloggers and posters. Thus, the SAC blogs have some views people tend to agree with and other views people tend not to. If you are the print media and like the style of the Just Snarky blogger (which I like), then it is certainly the safe pick from a business standpoint and from a standpoint of not alienating the readers of Main Line Today if they are possibly offended by something "controversial" in something MLT gives an award to.
Regardless, congrats to Just Snarky and keep up the good blogging.

very good points!
No one has mentioned Haverford Blog. It has lots of great threads and info although it tends to be more for Haverford folks. There have been some very worthwile "debates" on local and national issues.
But the SAC blog is the best. All viewpoints, all the time.
LOL, Haverford Blog is more of a bulletin board, not a blog in some people's minds. Haverford Blog, however is still one of my favorite "lurk" points.

chattypatty,
Thanks for your nice compliment...I am glad you like what I write here - maybe someday our website will get that kind of local recognition. The irony of course, is the SAC site has gotten NATIONAL props from folks like the Institute for Justice, just not local.
But you know what at the end of the day? It's nice that traditional media sources can recognize the value in the blogosphere, ya know?
