8/17/2009 10:13:59 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time is when she did it to be precise! see related post : BREAKING NEWS:Paolino Pulls a Palin. She's Done. (Finally.)
Oh like oh yeah Lisa, it was soooo sweet when you sicced that lawyer on Doug et al during your ill fated run for state senate, right? Oh like oh yeah Lisa, 'cause you did not have a thing to do with anything? Give me a break. Give yourself a break. Ciao bella. Can't say I will miss you So let's see...Lisa showed up for work? Shocking but true and they say she is out of it too? Now, Dan Sherry,Chip Layfeld, Christina Perrone, John Nagle, John Fischer (I guess they mean OTHER than the commissioner, right?), Elaine Paul Schaefer, Hariette Waldron, and a lot of others are there too.....and oh yes, The Schneller is there too... It's a loooooooong agenda....will there be speechification? The bookmakers are watching....will she stay...will she go....will Mimi Auchincloss have an August migraine? Someone let us know....after all if she quits tonight, they have to do a special election don't they? Will it be champage and cigars after tonight's meeting or a beer to drown sorrows? |

Yes, Lisa resigned tonight. And as part of her going away speech she made remarks about blogs and the internet and how they hurt her and her daughter... and blamed me for all of it!
Wow, I had no idea I was that powerful....
That's got a great beat!
JohnN, you also wrote a recent letter to the editor in the Main Line Times suggesting that Lisa consider alternatives other than continuing to hold her post on the Board. She didn't blame you for that too--or at least acknowledge it with an honorable mention?
Good show!
Plus, the concert by Carla feels so apt to mark the occasion.
(Wondering--did Lisa mention in her farewell speech why she didn't independently decide that repeated failure to show up at work justified a decision to resign?)
Lisa not only blamed John, but insulted him and others...the YouTube is simply precious (8:11- 16:27). And John, she just didn't have the balls to name the rest of us, because it sounded silly enough that big, powerful, girl politician on the move was (it sounded like to me) being toppled by bloggers after her many attempts to silence people, right? I told you what I thought of you, right here under my own name, Lisa and people spoke at meetings and said how they felt about you under your own name and in letters to the editor too, didn't they? So let's stop revisionist history, shall we? Was it only ok when people were afraid of you? But then?
But let's get real about the daughter, ok? She's not a toddler. She's an adult. And as an adult she is fair game, only we never spoke about her daughter directly, did we? And as an adult, we could have, right?
Did blogs talk about Lisa yes. And it all started to the best of my recall when a lone blogger from Radnor posted an article that was, in essence, about helicopter parenting - you see the same time an article about Radnor grade fixing broke, so did the Baldwin drama over fired teachers and large donations to capital improvement projets.
Here is the article that began Lisa's relationship with bloggers:
An investigation into grade-changing and cheating during the 2006-07 school year at Radnor High School has found "systemic inadequacies" in the school district's procedures, as well as ignorance of educational law and a failure to respect professional lines of authority.
The finding was made public in a report, issued yesterday, that seeks to close a difficult period for the Radnor School District. For the last several months, the administration and teachers - who discovered some of the grade changes by accident - were at odds, and there were fears that other changes had gone undiscovered. Superintendent Gary Cooper resigned in April, citing personal reasons, and acting principal Joseph Cannella returned to his assistant principal position.
The 17-page report details the handling of grade changes for two students, an apparent computer glitch that led to grades for a whole math class' being incorrectly recorded, and an Advanced Placement cheating incident in January that involved 28 students.
In dealing with the controversies, investigators concluded that administrators revealed "a lack of knowledge of, or appreciation of, educational law," and that policies, controls and procedures were inadequate or nonexistent.....The report, written for the school board by the Levin Legal Group of Huntingdon Valley, which specializes in education law, recommends a host of changes to improve the district's response in the future.
The daughter of Radnor Township Commissioner Lisa Paolino was one of the students for whom a grade was changed. She also was a member of the math class that received incorrect marks, fueling speculation that influence had been used.
The report says that the girl's grade change was handled improperly by the district's administration initially, but that the alteration was nevertheless warranted....Cooper, Board President Kathy Fisher and Paolino all said there had been no improper influence involved.
Paolino's daughter "has a medical problem which was disclosed, and the grade change was found to be appropriate. It is as simple as that," said Joe Fioravanti, Paolino's lawyer. ....But Judy Sherry, a former school board member and a persistent board critic, said that she remained skeptical about whether Paolino's being a commissioner figured in how her daughter's grade change was handled.
The report does not have enough "who, when, what, where and why" to satisfy her, she said. It "is supposed to clear the air so that 'healing can begin.' But it doesn't do that. It doesn't shed much light."
So after that and a few hundred posts later (not about Lisa, because she really wasn't that interesting), Lisa started making way too much noise about something that had been correctly documented in the press which made people wonder what was up, ok? A little nosing around and we soon discovered what was up with Lisa: she was announcing a run for State Senate, which occured barely after Connie Williams announced retirement. Around that time, she threatened webmaster Doug, too over basically, First Amendment Rights.
Then can all the drama of girl-runs-for-senate. First there was the choice of office. If she hated John Nagle so much, why did she get Farley to rent her space in the same building?
Then there was that little old issue over car was coupons, remember? And the odd press releases? And the judge's order over those "sample ballots"?
And all of the Lisa critics were responsible still for her actions? Critics like this other blogger who came and went?
And then there was the attytude that changed after she lobbyed to become BOC Prez for 2009 and did not make it? Was that our fault and John's fault too we suppose? And then there was the missing of all those meetings? That was everyone else's fault too? Then there was the missing of meetings? I suppose that was everyone else's fault too? And the reasons? First it was sick relative? Then she was sick? And then came the photos and quasi announcement on FaceBook? And that was our fault too? Wow, she should be thanking us for getting her fiance/client publicity, right? After all, if there were no bloggers, would Michael Klein have noticed anything and given her such good, free, she didn't place it publicity? Michael was nice to her.
Ciao Lisa.

And Lisa, you know excatly who I am - and you only have yourself to blame for your disgraceful behavior. Any chance of returning the taxpayer money you were paid for doing nothing? No.
Now get out of town. Quite simply, you are not welcome in Radnor or on the Main Line.

Comparing the background information in the links included in Carla's post
with many of Lisa Paolino's remarks in the video of her resignation speech (also included in the post) is astonishingly and efficiently illuminating.
The post illustrates how powerful it can be to pull together several parts of a story over time into one blog. Masterful.
(all Ken's fault)
Would you consider running for Radnor BOC, Carla? Imagine the possibilities?
I am not a politician, I am a community activist and am smart enough to know the difference and how I can help best. So no, Bob, I have no desire to be an elected official anywhere.
As for Lisa's comment about being an Italian American? Well sweet pea, so am I. And to me, you are an unfortunate cliché, si?

Ditto on running for office. A LOT more can be and is actually accomplished as an activist. To win an election you have to conform, and that is why politicians are always telling activists to run for office.
As someone who is one quarter Sicilian, I too know what Italian families are like.
Fortunately, the vast majority do not produce people like Paolino.
Her positive attributes on certain issues were far outweighed by her government-as-usual goon tactics and general incompetence.

couldnt agree more. as christina perrone and chip layfield pointed out at last nights b.o.c. meeting, paolino had some good characteristics - but so does everyone!
it will be interesting to see who will run for that vacant seat, as well as who will be temporarily appointed to represent the 5th ward.

Bumped to the front page. Twitter is really good for "live" updates, too. We could start using the #saveardmore tag.
I really need to get a widget installed to start streaming such tweets to this website, too...
