Thanks for posting the video of the meeting, John!

A few thoughts -

1. Good for the folks in Garrett Hill. They worked hard and deserved their victory.

2. Good job by Carla - an excellent presentation, and it's great that she did the legwork. It's pretty rare that an outsider gets applauded during meetings - so Carla gets major props.

3. I am convinced that Bill Spingler is a blustering, bumbling blowhard. He NEVER uses evidence to support his positions - he just rambles about conversations he's apparently had with residents. I wonder if that technique would work if I tried it. Maybe I'll speak at the next B.O.C. meeting and say "70% of the people I talked with today, told me that it wasn't a smart idea to trust Bill Spingler's recollection about the statistics he's claimed to have acquired."

4. Cas 'Lot 9' Halloway got sliced up by Dan Sherry. It's about damn time. The 'Cass's Pass' comment was particularly good. They should fine this goofball for causing a road to be partially closed in Radnor for multiple months, just so he can build his precious townhouses. Good job by John Fisher, Kevin Higgins, Enrique Hervada, and Hank Mahoney for expressing their displeasure with Cas - but they should've done more than just put a 'sunset clause' into the ordinance.

5. Elaine Paul Schaefer was just brutally bad. Somebody should have told her that standing up at the podium and reading a clearly prepared ticker tape of economic improvement 'suggestions' is not a smart campaign strategy - particularly when a lot of those 'suggestions' HAVE ALREADY BEEN IMPLEMENTED. Schaefer looked totally oblivious - not smart a week before an election.

6. A couple of camera angles show John Nagle in the audience. And yet he says nothing. After Nagle's performance at the last B.O.C. meeting, I expected him to jump out of his chair and scream 'RUN FOR YOUR LIVES, PEOPLE!!! H1N1 cannot be contained, since they are not giving Rite Aid a drive-thru pharmacy in downtown Wayne!!' Instead, Nagle just sat in a chair and looked angry. If Nagle wants to be a 'Grumpy Gus', why doesn't he sit at home - rather than prejudice the undecided voter pool watching the meeting?

7. Not to pile on, but in my opinion, anybody who goes to the podium and claims that Bill Spingler is a 'great guy', is either delusional, or has got their tongue planted so firmly in cheek, that speech should be all but impossible.

8. Did Ernie Shaprio come down with a severe case of laryngitis? He's been given an enormously important interim position (5th Ward Commissioner) and he hasn't said very much during meetings. I get that his campaign is built around John Nagle self destructing (and so far it seems to be working - Nagle has had at least three very public meltdowns) but for goodness sake - talk about something.

9. I feel sort of sorry for Steve Bajus. I know very little about Garrett Hill, but Bajus came off as very reasonable and genuinely perplexed as to what he was permitted to do with his buildings with the new zoning changes. Also, I don't get why the Township is apparently willing to bend over backwards for developers like Cas Halloway, but in the same meeting tell developers like Bajus (who has done a lot of good for Radnor Township) to go pound sand. It seems inconsistent. Granted, it's tough to feel bad for a guy that makes a lot of money, but still, I don't like seeing anybody receive a raw deal.

10. I don't recall anybody from the Radnor Conservancy or the Friends of the Willows Cottage speaking at the meeting about 'Harvest Fest', or for that matter, thanking the Township for the space for their party, as well as allowing them to advertise the event throughout the township ('Harvest Fest' signs littered the streets). I guess that's typical - the Conservancy takes and takes and takes, and never really gives anything back.

Ken Taylor and Baron Gemmer made several excellent points during the Public Comment portion of the meeting...which came approximately five (5) hours after the meeting began.
