Give up?

The answer to the question What Do Perkasie, Radnor, and other Municipalities Have in Common, and What is The Lower Merion Connection? is simple: Local Government Management Services, LLC and Daniel P. Olpere.

You remember them? Or should I say him, since he seems to be a one-man band?

LOCAL GOVERNMENT MANAGEMENT SERVICES, LLC

Isn't this the "consultant" who saddled Yeadon and who else with Paul Janssen? Isn't it? Isn't this the guy who tried to saddle Radnor with Janssen, until the potential for issues was aired where? On a blog? And oh the irony that a blog did better research then a mighty municipality, right?

Well, how has the interest in Daniel Olpere grown anew? Well unrest in Perkasie Borough in Bucks County - it's a really cute area, have you been there? Anyway, who knew this "consultant" also was a Township/Borough Manager in his own right? And apparently teaches at Villanova too?

And what else has found it's way to me? The connection between Daniel Olpere and David C. Latshaw, the guy who was Lower Merion's Township Manager before Doug Cleland...until one day, he just wasn't. Why did Latshaw up an leave Lower Merion anyway?

So I found Olpere on Latshaw's website and have to wonder: are all these guys related to one and other? What is the deal with all of this?

Now people in Perkasie are not happy apparently? Is it true that Daniel Olpere who is currently their Borough Manager at a salary of $104,000 plus and has in the past few years hired himself an assistant at $55,000? That's a tiny borough isn't it? Is it true that whoever Perkasie has as the Finance Director of the borough moved in a few houses down from Olpere in North Wales last year?

Now what has Perkasie residents understandably upset? Is it that the owner of Local Govt Mgmt Svcs, Daniel Olpere is very actively working at this business of his while earning $104,000 plus benefits from Perkasie? Radnor paid roughly $8,000, to Olpere, right? What else has Olpere charged for his services elsewhere? Is it true the residents of Perkasie feels he does nothing and finds his side biz upsetting, because it's like he doesn't really care about the tiny borough that pays him a tidy sum?

Now it seems that Olpere was appointed in Perkasie in 2004 according to the The Perkasie Opinion Blog :

Perkasie Borough Council voted 8 to 1 in favor of firing Borough Manager John Cornelius tonight, following a motion by Councilman Bill Hettel and seconded by Harry McGonigal. The dismissal takes effect immediately. No reasons were given during the meeting, other than Councilwoman Joan Handy's comments that there were "some problems."....Council then appointed Daniel P. Olpere, president of Local Government Management Services, LLC, North Wales, as Interim Borough Manager. Olpere will begin duties tomorrow (April 20, 2004).

Now remember, Olpere reps Jannsen at times, right? Or he did to Radnor as a temp, right? And like Olpere, Janssen also has HIS own consulting or whatever firm too, right? And that is the kind of biz started by former LM Latshaw who features Olpere rather prominently on his website, so are the all interconnected? If so how? If so why?

I don't go looking for this stuff, it finds me. But here is where else this Olpere shows up:

Goodness gracious me, how on earth can Daniel Olpere keep all these balls in the air juggling around? Very interesting how local governments work, huh?

Pretty clear Latshaw was summarily fired, but nobody ever wanted to tell us, the unwashed taxpayers, why. One day he was the universe's best city manager -- you know, Lower Merion always has the best municipal staff ever, until it doesn't -- and the next day his name was muttered darkly as if he were a child molester or something. Also fired at the same time was the Assistant Township Manager, presumably for a related reason.

These guys give me a laugh -- Olpere highlights his Dale Carnegie certificate and Latshaw is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to live in a place that is run so poorly! A small group of us is trying to get the word out and change our local government. More power to all of us who are trying to make our local governments work for us instead of for themselves.

I have heard from people in Perkasie and they are experiencing frustration about trying to enact positive change - which I guess we can all understand. I hear there is a new group starting up called Perkasie First.

They are mentioned in this article:

Surprise, surprise.

Government retribution old school Lower Merion style.

I'd suggest Perkasie residents get a good blog going and strongly exercise their right to free speech regarding these bozos.

Or even a Facebook page for that matter.  I see Facebook being used more and more to highlight issues like this.

Case in point, the guy whose dog was shot by cops, with a page that has over 100K likes.
