I received an e-mail today from Jill Govberg containing a press release regarding the Jill shouldn't-have-used-the-lists or whatever you want to call it litigation blogged about previously on this blog. Since then there has been a lot of who shot John I have mostly tuned out, but then I get this press release (being posted verbatim below), which I am sorry to say, shamelessly attacks Commissioner Jenny Brown who has nothing to do with this quite frankly. I like Jill, but I do not like what she has done to Jenny. She says Lance is doing this because Jenny wants to run for County Commissioner. Number one, I had not heard Jenny was doing that and if she was that race is WAY way off and just gossip and innuendo until a candidacy is announced. Number two, (and perhaps more important), the only one with the apparently not so subtle aspirations at present to run for County Commissioner is Jill Govberg herself, who was in fact wearing campaign stickers for such a race at the RCLMN Lincoln Day Dinner a few months ago - please see a photo someone sent me: Also important to note, I don't see Jenny Brown having her photo taken at so many political events with enough candidates and current politicians that she looks like she is in the midst of the equivalent of political kama sutra. I doubt very much Jenny Brown has ever done anything to Jill Govberg and well, I make no secret of the fact that I am a huge Jenny fan because among other things she just knows how to behave. For Jill I think this will in fact, only cause more of a spotlight to shine on Jill and in quite the negative manner. And I think that is a shame, because as is the case with Jenny, there are families and children to consider. Anyone with a brain knows that this started back when Tracey Specter stepped down as head of RCLMN to play on Arlen's campaign. So not so long ago we had that silly letter by that Jim Clark guy, and now this. You know Jill, I still like you, and you have to do what you feel you have to do. But throwing a woman like Jenny Brown under a bus (or trying to) to make your point is not cool. It's rather tacky and tawdry and I expected better from you. To others I am told this just smells of desperation and if you do want to run for office Jill, this is going to be a turn off. So Jill, Lance, it's time to sit down and talk about this. Press releases are just noise at this point.
And can someone explain to me if Jill thinks it is ok she used these lists the way she did why Scott Zelov was not given equal access when he made his brief bid for Congress when Gerlach was contemplating a gubernatorial run? Why were they non-proprietary for her use but proprietary when Zelov requested them? Can't have it both ways, after all. |

I doubt Jenny thinks it is funny. I know her pretty well. The thing is this: I have been told Jill Govberg returned the list and the litigation has been dropped in return, so wasn't that tanatmount to guilt and an unsaid admission? So why the press release? This is crap and unecessary drama, or should I say more unecessary drama. Jenny wasn't in this equation and it was poor show to drag her in.
Ya know, all you crazed he said-she said LM GOP-ers can vote me down all you want, I am still entitled to my opinion. It doesn't mean I don't like Jill because I do, but I think she needs to employ less drama. And if I were Jill I would be careful with that consultant from Camp Bob Asher that she is reportedly using - some name I can't pronounce nor spell.
Who is Bob Asher? Well, he's so infamous he even has his own wikipedia page:
Not only is he a convicetd felon, but he is a neocon due to his support of Rudy Giuliani.
Just another Big Government Republican who is part of Pennsylvania pay-to-play politics, which is what is wrong with the GOP in this state. Quite simply, Asher and the establishment GOP are out-of-touch.
And who outlasted Rudy (the one-time front runner) in the GOP 2008 primary? Why, Ron Paul. It will be interesting to see who RP supporters target in the 2012 GOP primary. Assuming the front runner is Huckabee of Romney, expect them to have a lot of grief at their compaign events.

Bob Asher is a convicted Perjurer and Attempted Briber of a public official. He is also National Republican Committeeman and major money guy as well as major Earmarker-Porker. To put it another way, Bob Asher is everything wrong with the Republican party.
I don't think Bob Asher knows what or who a neocon is. I am not sure you do either, politeia.
Bob Asher is in this for the money. Jill Govberg should be ashamed of herself for associating with and accepting support from a convicted perjurer and attempted briber of public officials. More to come. This is Jill Govberg's unqualified ambition overriding common sense and common decency. Bob Asher is everything wrong with Pennsylvania Republican Party.
From a July 21, 2006 Inquirer article by Carrie Budoff and Angela Couloumbis
"All have thrown their weight behind the proposed $725 million plant in Schuylkill County, helping it win $147 million in state and federal aid.
Both Santorum and Specter were instrumental in pushing for the money.
But they had help. A year earlier, Rich had tapped a firm headed by Montgomery County GOP chairman Ken Davis to lobby in Washington at $10,000 per month.
Two weeks after the 2003 grant announcement, Bob Asher registered as a lobbyist for Rich's company, Waste Management and Processors Inc., which was his only federal client at the time.
Rich paid Asher $25,000 per month, for a total of $900,000 since his hiring."
Bob, just because you don't like the non-interventionist views of traditional conservatives, don't tell me what I know or not.
Perhaps Asher does not know what a Neocon Is, but I doubt anyone who is politically astute and involved in the GOP does not understand the term because they realize there is a base of warmongering citizens out there that happen to be Republicans, and the establishment GOP is careful not to alienate them.

This whole Govberg vs. RCLMN has raised once again the ghost of Bob Asher. As it is rumored her political consultant comes from Camp Asher, Bob Guzzardi sent me two documents - including a court filing - that will let people know what this Ashergate swirl is about:
Executive Summary - Bob Asher Record
Like Ernie Preate, Bob Asher seems to always be there just in the shadows, huh? Ernie Preate's downfall helped bring Tom Corbett to power, didn't it?
Of course all this Republican skulduggery makes me wonder what old Ken Davis and his man purse are up to, huh?
And oh good lord, they've been chatting up the Times Herald:
Lawsuit dropped against Govberg
Published: Friday, July 30, 2010
By KEITH PHUCAS
Times Herald Staff
COURTHOUSE — The Republican Committee of Lower Merion and Narberth dropped its lawsuit against former vice chair Jill Govberg after she returned a master file of political supporters.
The civil suit, which was withdrawn Friday in Montgomery County Court, claimed Govberg, a Republican candidate for Montgomery County Commissioner, wrongfully took computer files.
Current committee chairman Lance Rogers said Friday the Excel data file contained about 1,000 names.
“All we ever asked was that Jill return the data files to us, and she did,” Rogers said. “Out of the blue last night, she gave it back.” He claimed two others who had the same lists had returned them weeks ago.
Now she's going on about e-mails? Good lord...STOP, please just STOP the drama Jill. You are such a nice lady but you are looking a wee bit silly. If you want to move ahead in politics, you can't look silly because then you might be compared to that Jon Fox who was among the silliest of them all.....

Whether it is the DCLMN or the RCLMN, both of these organizations are beyond dysfunctional.
I don't know Govberg. I agree that Jenny is one of the few respectful LM commissioners - whether you agree with her politics or not. First and foremost, she is respectful to the citizens of Lower Merion, and that is something that does not exist with many commissioners (Reed and Taylor, to name the two most obvious).
However, I don't see Govberg throwing Jenny under the bus in this "press release".
I see a petty squabble between Govberg and Rogers where Govberg mentioned Jenny in one sentence. Did she need to mention Jenny? No. But I see it mainly as harmless and Jenny probably thinks it is funny - whether she plans to run for county commissioner or not.
What these tactless tactics do is reflect poorly on Govberg and Rogers. The lawsuit is lame, and Govberg's "press release" is a stupid response.
