PREFACE: I am not commenting on the right and wrong of the litigation being filed. I am commenting on what has transpired since.

I received an e-mail today from Jill Govberg containing a press release regarding the Jill shouldn't-have-used-the-lists or whatever you want to call it litigation blogged about previously on this blog. Since then there has been a lot of who shot John I have mostly tuned out, but then I get this press release (being posted verbatim below), which I am sorry to say, shamelessly attacks Commissioner Jenny Brown who has nothing to do with this quite frankly.

I like Jill, but I do not like what she has done to Jenny. She says Lance is doing this because Jenny wants to run for County Commissioner. Number one, I had not heard Jenny was doing that and if she was that race is WAY way off and just gossip and innuendo until a candidacy is announced. Number two, (and perhaps more important), the only one with the apparently not so subtle aspirations at present to run for County Commissioner is Jill Govberg herself, who was in fact wearing campaign stickers for such a race at the RCLMN Lincoln Day Dinner a few months ago - please see a photo someone sent me:

Also important to note, I don't see Jenny Brown having her photo taken at so many political events with enough candidates and current politicians that she looks like she is in the midst of the equivalent of political kama sutra.

I doubt very much Jenny Brown has ever done anything to Jill Govberg and well, I make no secret of the fact that I am a huge Jenny fan because among other things she just knows how to behave. For Jill I think this will in fact, only cause more of a spotlight to shine on Jill and in quite the negative manner. And I think that is a shame, because as is the case with Jenny, there are families and children to consider.

Anyone with a brain knows that this started back when Tracey Specter stepped down as head of RCLMN to play on Arlen's campaign. So not so long ago we had that silly letter by that Jim Clark guy, and now this.

You know Jill, I still like you, and you have to do what you feel you have to do. But throwing a woman like Jenny Brown under a bus (or trying to) to make your point is not cool. It's rather tacky and tawdry and I expected better from you. To others I am told this just smells of desperation and if you do want to run for office Jill, this is going to be a turn off.

So Jill, Lance, it's time to sit down and talk about this. Press releases are just noise at this point.

Statement of Jill Govberg Regarding Rogers ’ Lawsuit

LOWER MERION, PA: Jill Govberg offered the following statement regarding the groundless lawsuit filed by Lance Rogers against her.

“After four weeks of good faith efforts by committee members, attorneys and me to resolve the dispute created by Lance Rogers, the negotiations have failed.

It is clear to me that amicably resolving this issue was never Lance Rogers’ intention. Rather, this has been a manipulative and shameless ploy to defame me in false statements in both the media and to committee members. This suit was aimed at nothing more than tarnishing my good name in order for Rogers to further Jenny Brown’s County Commissioner candidacy. Rogers ’ amateurish and bitter attempt has been gutter politics at its worst.

Furthermore, Rogers claims possession of others’ emails.[1] Having personal emails is inexcusable. Whose emails does he have? Why does he have them? How did he get them? I have nothing to hide, but, he certainly has a lot to explain.

I have been forthright regarding the lists in my possession. Any information I received from the RCLMN was properly requested and rightfully obtained. I have never used any list for personal gain. Any assertion by Rogers to the contrary is false.

As RCLMN deserves better than the failed leadership demonstrated by Rogers , I have returned the disputed list to the authorized person who gave it to me. It is no longer in my possession. In turn, I call upon Rogers to withdraw his groundless lawsuit immediately.

Should Rogers not withdraw his baseless suit, the repercussions to him and the RCLMN are solely on him; I will defend myself to clear my name.

Through his abuse of authority, Rogers needlessly divided our committee and alienated a devoted group of hard working committee people who were responsible for lifting countless Republicans to victory. Rogers is failing all of us.”

And can someone explain to me if Jill thinks it is ok she used these lists the way she did why Scott Zelov was not given equal access when he made his brief bid for Congress when Gerlach was contemplating a gubernatorial run? Why were they non-proprietary for her use but proprietary when Zelov requested them? Can't have it both ways, after all.
