In a Letter to the Editor on Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood Patch, Lower Merion Board of Commissioners President and Vice President Bruce Reed and Mark Taylor highlight what they say is an ideological divide on the board, sparked by Commissioner Jenny Brown:

"The challenges that we have on the Board of Commissioners in the coming months to hammer out the details of that Budget will demand serious, thoughtful leadership, and clear-eyed decision making. It is therefore disappointing, but unfortunately unsurprising, that Commissioner Jenny Brown and her Republican colleagues chose to devote much of their public pronouncements of the past three months to instead demonizing us and our leadership of the Board."

Your publication of this letter, which is almost verbatim with the letter published in this week's Main Line Times, raises an interesting question. Most major newspapers (NYT, WSJ, even the Inquirer) only consider original submissions for publication. What is your policy on cross-publication, and have you discussed this with the editors of the MLT?

I have a lot of respect for Tom Murray and MLMN. I too am a little concerned about this.

If Reed and Taylor sent their letter to both, no harm, no foul in my view.

However, the Patch guy is being pretty aggressive here on the SAC blogs. I don’t mind that per se, but it will be interesting to see how MLMN responds.

No doubt they sent it to both.  In the days when Main Line Times and Main Line Life were in competition, almost everybody used to send their letters to both papers and each of them would publish them, though not always in the same week.  The letter itself is a waste of time, of course.

Of course it also opens up the discussion of Messrs Reed and Taylor perpetuating a thug culture in Lower Merion. When all else fails, blame the girl?

I can’t wait for the budget discussions so I can have my say with Reed and Taylor on this past year of fiscal mismanagement by those two clowns masquerading as thugs to those who don‘t even realize the "emperors" are not wearing any clothes.

I left a comment at Patch:

While Messrs. Reed and Taylor are entitled to their opinions, they need to realize that people are different and people are concerned about the direction of the township.

The board ran much better when there was a balance between the Republicans and Democrats. There is no balance and everyone in LM is just supposed to see things the way leadership does. To me that is not representative of a democracy, but instead a dictatorship.

I don't always see eye to eye with Ms. Brown, but I respect her because she is honest, forthright, and represents her constituents and the residents of Lower Merion. She is caring and dedicated. She listens.

Sometimes I think Messrs. Reed and Taylor just like to talk about her because people LIKE and respect her.

When you speak out in Lower Merion against the majority you are punished. I think the commissioners in the majority need to realize that just because they are the majority it doesn't make them right 100% of the time.

These grown men should be embarrassed and ashamed of this letter. They look once again, like grade school bullies shaking other kids down for milk money at recess, and any message they are trying to impart gets lost in translation.

I am sure the sycophants will pop up here with their knives to attack me now. But like them, I am entitled to my opinion.

What happened to your comment? It was there this afternoon, but it's gone now. Was it spiked as abusive?
