Hi everyone, I'm very happy to say Patch.com is picking up everyone's parking tabs this Thursday, Dec. 23. Get out and support our local businesses (and don't worry about the meters, they'll be covered and pre-paid; township lots are free too!) http://patch.com/A-cFwq Also, check out our local shopping guide if you're looking for any last minute presents: http://patch.com/A-c9yb

Very nice of the Patch to do this.
I have a question: does the Township forego any parking revenue on these occasions, or is the entire tab picked up by Ardmore Initiative or, as in this case the Patch, other civic minded organizations?
hmmm...I think it's on the people as they say...not the township
Patch agreed to pay the township a price that would cover the parking revenue were the lots/meters not free. So, the tab is being picked up, as it were.
That's what I thought and it is a very generous gesture on the part of the Patch.
Why the Township gets any credit for its participation in this program is beyond me.
Cleland has stated many times that parking meter and fines receipts should not be regarded as revenue generators for the General Fund. Yet that is exactly how they are viewed. These are one of the first items he turns to when asked what could be changed to help the budget imbalance.
Never heard of the Patch. What are the details?
Sweet deal! That's very kind of the Patch.
Your post gets one of these:

Happy New Year.
Sorry about the empty post: Started to post but was distracted.
I liked Patch when it started out in Ardmore, but now there is a Haverford Patch, Bala Cynwyd, Patch, Ardmore Patch, Bryn Mawr Patch. Many of the stories overlap, but others don't. I wonder why the overkill in this market. Are the interests of people in Merion that different from the people in Gladwyne, Bala Cynwyd, or Narberth?
I've been a happy reader of Adrmore Patch since it launched. I think Nathan Susanj is doing a fantastic job. But I agree that the launches of the other local Patches make readership and coverage a bit confused. I don't really want to have to log into four different Patches to get all the news.
Also I question the coverage zones. It doesn't make much sense to me to group Bala Cynwyd and Narberth together. The Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood Patch looped all the way around Narberth, and now seems to form interlocking J's with the BalaCynwyd-Narberth Patch.
And I also wish they would stabilize their RSS feed.
Thanks Patch. I subscribed to the Patch. Lots of good information.

That’s great Nathan! Very thoughtful of Patch.
I’ll look to take advantage of this as I am always do last minute Christmas shopping.
