For another Leftist site with excellent information, see Environmental Working Group

www.ewg.org

and, in particular, 2011 Farm Subsidy Database

Montgomery County Farm Subsidy Database 2011 (1995 to 2010)

Looking at those counties that get the most of “corporate welfare”, we see it is the “reddest”, the most conservative counties which reminds us that, like the arrogantly obnoxious Rick Santorum, because someone is a “social conservative” doesn’t mean they adhere to principles of Constitutional Limited Government and Free Markets.

COMMON GROUND

This is an issue where fiscal common sense conservatives and Democrats come together on Common Ground. The Free Market conservatives object to market distortions and view the Free Market as the best way to allocate scarce resources rather than government fiat. The Left sees this as funding wealthy, privileged few, a redistribution of the wealth to those least in need, - see distribution of subsidy graph for the data - and the Left has a point here. Free Market conservatives and anti-capitalist Leftists both call this “corporate welfare”, which is a redistribution of wealth of money the government has taken from one citizen and given to another for political, rather than economic, reasons.

Farmer Tom Smith, who lives on the 400 acre farm he grew up on,  never took a farm subsidy and even declined a Small Business Loan when he was buying his first coal company.  Tom Smith interviewed by Bob Guzzardi and Adam Taxin WWDB AM 869 April 10, 2012 (15 minute segment)
