Doug Cleland's contract as Township Manager expired at the end of the last year. His new contract has now been negotiated and will be approved by the Board of Commissioners this evening, after a pro-forma committee meeting of the Administrative and Human Resources Committee of the Board of Commissioners. I guess that is when the new terms will be unveiled for public scrutiny. The agenda item as shown on the Township website is "The Board will discuss a Personnel Matter." Mr. Cleland's salary as Township Manager (base of $193,323 plus longevity bonus and deferred comp for 2011) is higher than that of the Governor of the Commonwealth ($177,888 for 2011) or the Mayor of Philadelphia ($167,440 for 2011). It is notable that this item is being presented as far under the radar as humanly possible |

Here's a Patch artcle on this:
To "The recent unpleasantness" and "Houston, we have a problem" we can now add "The Board will discuss a Personnel Matter"
To paraphrase Babe Ruth, Cleland had a better year than Corbett or Nutter.

This REALLY pisses me off.
This is the most important appointment the commissioners make and they are doing it as secretly as possible!?
Do the games and secretiveness never end?
