OMG. Fellini caught fire?

See:

Main Line Times > News
Sprinklers control apartment fire above Ardmore restaurant
Published: Wednesday, March 07, 2012
By Pete Bannan

The paper says they are closed now also because of violations found and other issues post fire? We've posted the health department reports for Fellini before. You all can read them yourselves by clicking on:

Food Establishment Inspections
Facility Name: Fellini Café, Inc.
License Number: A13407
Address: 31 E. Lancaster Avenue
City: Ardmore
Municipality: Lower Merion

It sounds like no one was hurt, and that is good, but I can't say I would be upset to see Fellini leave Ardmore if that is what they decide post fire. The place is a pit. And their trash is always a mess - it's really gross if you have to park in the lot next to them and walk by their alley.

You should check with the unemployment office to see if you are eligible to file for UCOMP and you should check with other restaurants in the area and on Craig's list to see who is hiring for restaurant work. Lower Merion Township isn't going to help you.

3/07/2012 was the inspection post fire, as in happened this month and how is that old? Fellini is a crappy restaurant that serves slop. The place always looks dirty. The trash was always a mess in the back. If Fellini never opened back up, it would not be a bad thing.

FWIW, the following on the 10/17/2011 report stuck out to me:

http://webapp.montcopa.org/health/Inspections/DateInspectionReport.asp?Inspection=28533

1 facility lacking current food license(2xrepeat)Servsafe posted for Sarah Raimondo exam date 11-11-08
-facility has 5 business days to submit license application

Then there was 9/27/2011 :

http://webapp.montcopa.org/health/Inspections/DateInspectionReport.asp?Inspection=28121

And 3/3/2011:

http://webapp.montcopa.org/health/Inspections/DateInspectionReport.asp?Inspection=23809

The health department sems to be there a lot (in 2009 alone the health department was there 7 times? Is that normal?)- see all the dates:

Oh Bob, I am so sory, I had NO idea you were so enamored of Fellini Cafe. I also love how you make this sound like it is only me who doesn't like the place. Did you know that the owner of this restaurant also bounced a check to First Friday Main Line around 2006 which to the best of my knowledge has never been repaid? Further and to the point - nothing scientific about Patch posts and if you clear your cache and cookies and kep starting in a fresh browser you can vote for the same thing multiple times, so who is to say the owner didn't just keepvoting for himself? Additionally there is no accounting for taste and if people read their health department reports on Montgomery County's website they might think twice about patronizing them.

And oh yes, for your viewing pleasure the comments posted after this bit of fluffernuttersilliness was posted:

Another thing about Fellini is they do nothing to control the drunks in their BYOB. The final time I patronized them not only was the food revolting (nothing like rubbery calamari and that was but one thing our party ordered) and the restaurant dirty and odiferous, but there was this really drunk table adjacent to us and there were two women who were feeling no pain, one of whom who had high volume potty mouth - there we were at dinner and I have to listen to this woman and her friends at the next table (in their late 40s early 50s) drop the C-word multiple times along with the F bomb. I am no prude and swear on occasion, but we were out to dinner or a Friday or Saturday night. Next to us was a family with small kids, and also in the same room other families with children and I went up to the owner and to the waiter to ask if they could ask that woman to LOWER her voice so we all did not have to hear her version of George Carlin's 7 ditry curse words over and over and over and they refused to do anything. Other diners asked the same thing, and nothing. So on my way back from the ladies room (which was filthy) the one woman used the C word and F bomb again really loudly as I was about to pass her table, so I bent over next to her ear and asked her if she could just lower her voice when using such profanities in a restaurant. I went and sat down. 20 minutes went by, and the women got up from that table and stumbled over and tried to literally sit on me and tried to hit me. It was like living for a moment in the Twilight Zone. I pushed the drunks off of me and left the restaurant. I have not stepped foot in it since. They are also a haven to underage BYOB as well. So if you like them Mazel Tov, but cheap food served in a dirty restaurant just doesn't do it for me. And when you also see one of the owners in line at the grocery store buying frozen pasta and then you see the "homemade" pasta sign, well you just have to wonder....

Carla, if you were so very aware of the major-league deficiencies of this establishment, did you deign to report your concerns to the Health Department?

Apparently both Boobs err Bobs are off their meds and once again it is time to gang up on a woman. Have at it both of you.

Skalroff you are an odd, nasty little man with a Napoleonic complex. As a breast cancer survivor I can't believe you are an oncologist because truthfully I find you so offensive I would not go to you for a hang nail.

Guzzardi, I am sorry, did I disagree with you? Oh gee I forgot I am never supposed to do that. It's amazing Guzzardi that over the years I have actually defended you (remember your 12th street gym issues and others?), considering how quickly you turn on women with strong opinions(myself included). You are like a rabid dog when you turn, do you foam at the mouth? You have an odd way of demonstrating friendship.

As for the comment did I call the department of health. No. I wrote about my experiences here. But obviously given the frequency of reports on Montgomery County's site for Fellini, plenty of people have obviously done so. And FYI if people do have complaints about Felini or any other food establishment, I have been told the process is anonymous. All you have to do is call.

Ok boys, kick your little sneakers against the wall, on the floor, whatever.

Fellini's seem to be packed at both lunch and dinner. Perhaps, knowing that you won't be there is a reason for its popularity. Otherwise, given the negatives you describe, it's hard to explain its popularity.

While I'm pretty neutral on the Ardmore Fellini's, many people either seem to love it or hate it.

I have not eaten there in years, and that tells me I never saw a reason to go back and friends don't frequent it which could also bring me back, but I also can't remember anything specific that would prevent me from going back other than average food that is reasonably priced.

I did eat at their Media location about a year ago and I recall that being an overall positive experience where I enjoyed the atmosphere and food, but I was also with good company and that helps.

They don't own Media. Haven't for years. It is a Fellini under different ownership - like Frankie's Fellini in Berwyn

let's keep on topic and avoid the personal attacks...all you have to do is look up fellini's cafe ardmore on "yelp" to see what people really think of this place. Check out the review about the cockroach on the table. Yuck. fortunately for me I haven't eaten there in years. I found the service to be horribly slow and the food just average. There are better places to eat. Honestly if you are looking for reasonably priced Italian food the chains Bertucci's and Buca De Beppo have it all over Fellini's Cafe. Although I can't say from experience, I'd guess based upon Carla's remarks that a number of their loyal customers go there to drink cheap wine, BYOB.

Yes it was voted best Italian restaurant in Ardmore and I hope we will reopen this week , I can't wait to see my regulars again and maybe even you Carla. If the owner is rude just talk to me, I will make sure you will leave this place happy , and one day if I am able to replace that check I will gladly give it to you. Because I love that township and the vibrant neigbhorhood , I keep my fingers crossed because I miss Ardmore ..
