BIG HOLE is still in ARDMORE SIDEWALK!

So, back when Chairman of the House Judiciary, Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner came to town, we noticed a hole that had been languishing in the sidewalk next to the now formerly targeted block in Ardmore. Then we didn't know precisely how long the hole had been in the sidewalk. That was February 17th, 2006 . Today is June 21st, 2006. We have asked the business owners to tell us if the hole was still there, and it is. Where is the hole, you ask?. Why the hole is in between Brownie's 23 East (23 East Lancaster Avenue) and Fellini Café (31 East Lancaster Avenue). ( So GLAD you asked!) It is your basic disgrace. It is unsightly and it is dangerous. What happens if someone falls? Someone already fell somewhere on the sidewalk up closer to the corner where Radio Shack is. Montgomery County has Case Number 2005-22096 on the books as a very active case with the last docket entry being earlier this month. It looks like a slip and fall, although not all of us around here are legally "in tune". Isn't one of these situations enough? One of our members e-mailed Lower Merion Public Works a couple days ago. There has been no response other than from property owners on the block saying thank you and whose hole is it preceisely? So, whose hole is this? And when will it be fixed? Before or after it causes someone injury? And does that matter to anyone other than pedestrians? We wrote about the hole before, and even we didn't get a response...and an acceptable response would have been to fix it. So, folks we're asking again: Why is there a hole in the sidewalk? Why has it been there for so long? Who is responsible? Can some of YOU out there call public works and ask them? Try calling 610-645-6150. Please note Public Works Administration has a mission statement. It is "Administer activities in all Public Works divisions to ensure the most efficient and effective delivery of services." Ok so hows about some efficient delivery of services? Just askin'. |

Some of our members have been told that a utility company, possibly PECO is to blame. Shame on whomever and we welcome Lower merion Township's efforts to remedy the situation. For this we owe thanks to Commissioner Jane Delheim who replied back to our members via e-mail. This is key because NO ONE from public works administration replied to previous e-mails
If this is a utility company, they need to be sat on - they leave the roads looking like giant gopher tunnels are in them, etc. Utilities are expensive. We should get our money's worth.
