Some Graffiti has been cleaned up around Ardmore, and some has not (hint: that stuff on West Athens Ave has GOT to go!)

LMT Planning Commission on 2/4

Check out item number 6 on the Planning Commission agenda for February 4th.

We have been talking forever about pedestrian safety in general in our Township and specifically at this intersection. Now we have a chance to actually have some kind of traffic calming or pedestrian safety island installed at Coulter and Anderson and the "applicant" doesn't want to do it. I say be a good neighbor and do what you agreed to do. Its good for you, your shoppers, and everyone in general.

Ardmore Toy Drive

All Ardmore residents and business owners are invited to support the Ardmore Avenue Community Center's annual Christmas drive: "There Really is a Santa." The Center collects new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 6 - 14 who otherwise might not receive any presents for Christmas.

Toys may be delivered to the Center at 122 Ardmore Avenue, between 3- 9 pm Monday through Saturday, until December 22nd. Additional questions may be addressed to the Center's Director, Linda Jackson, at 610-896-7256. Thank you for making a difference!

Folks,

There was discussion over on this blog entry about the possibility of getting PhillyCarShare here in Ardmore. el109 pointed out to us that Philly Car Share located their pods based on membership. That is, if there are more members in Ardmore, it will increase the chances of them having a pod here in Ardmore.

So, why join Philly Car Share?

It's free. A basic membership requires no application fee, no security deposit, and no annual fee.

Insurance is included. No need to worry about if your insurance company covers rental cars, PhillyCarShare has that taken care of. And if you use a Visa card, you may be eligible for their "zero deductable" program. (Amex card holders automatically get CDW coverage provided on any vehicles they rent with the card.)

Car rental by the hour. Just have a couple of errands to run? No problem. Rent a car for just a couple of hours and pay for only those hours. I can rent a car, get groceries, and return it, all for about $15.

NEW Park in Ardmore?

You may be aware that the parking lot which served the Christ Church Scientist at Linwood and Athens was purchased by a developer and has been subdivided for 4 residential properties. Our desire is to have a new Township park located on this lot. This area of the Township has been indicated as "underserved" with park space in the Township Open Space Plan. The developer is willing to sell the lot to the Township/neighbors for $1.5 million. The Township apparently has funds (allegedly $1 million) for such a venture, but we would need to work to raise the rest through donations and/or grants, etc.

I am asking each of you to send an email and call the Commissioners to let them know that you think this is an endeavor that you support.

We ask that you:

1) Contact Bruce Reed, Chair of the Board of Commissioners and express your desire for a park: , 610-664-3631 (h), 215-575-2328 (w).

2) Ask a neighbor to do the same.

3) Attend the May 2 Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting, 6:45 p.m. at the Township Building

4) Put our money where our mouth's are. If the neighborhood can raise $10,000 or more in pledges toward the purchase, it shows we are serious. Please contact me at if you are able to help. Your pledge, of course, goes away if there is no deal. Jeff Levine promised an initial pledge of $1,000.
